Trip #48..............day one of our 4 day weekend. I went to Conesus for the first time this year

I got there about 8:30 am, and struggled for 2.5 hours to just get bit, with only three small keepers in that time.

Then the switch flipped.

I caught over 40 bass and 15 pike between 11 am- 4 pm

Best five: 5-2, 4-11, 4-11, 4-9, + 4-4

Trip #49...............my hot streak continues. Fished from 5:30am till 10:30am or so, when the crazies started coming out.

It was on fire. My buddy and I boated over 20 fish between us.

My best five went: 5-6, 4-11, 4-4, 3-12, + 3-10 with several more 3+ lbers

He put a 4+ and a bunch of 3+'s in the boat as well

Fun day with a buddy..............a buddy who doesn't often fish against me in tournaments so I did not hold anything back today LOL.

Trip #50.............work is slow, so after the long holiday weekend.............I got the rest of (or most of) the week off to use up 2015/2016 vacation time before I get my 2016/2017 days next month.

Slept in as I was out late at family thing last night, and hit the water about 8:30am

It was pretty good again. I caught 18 bass between 8:30 am and noon...........and then the switch flipped the other way and I caught 3 between noon and 2 LOL.

Best five from one side of the lake: 4-11, 4-9, 4-6, 4-4, + 3-14

Best five from the other side of the lake LOL: 4-9, 4-7, 4-3, 4-0, + 3-1

OK........................so my 50th trip review of the season to date:

Hours on the water: 188 give or take a couple............averaging about 3 hours and 45 mins per trip

# of bass caught: 626.............about 3 or so an hour.

I fished Conesus for a tourney and got had a TM problems and only landed 3 keepers with 5 bites. 2 on a swimbait, 1 on a jig flipping weeds, you need to help me with Conesus !! Haha

Well I didn't get as much fishing done at the lake house as I had hoped, but I had plenty of fun in the water pulling people around on the inflatable.  Got back on Silver last Sunday and Monday and did ok, only one fish to brag about (7.4!)  It was hot as blazes with no wind so I decided to take the kids swimming instead; motored up to the middle of the lake and started swimming.

Then it clouded over, so we decided to go for a spin around the lake and look at some houses for sale.  I looked at one of my spots and decided I can't pass it up without at least throwing something at it. First cast in my run, pesky rock bass.  Then I came up on a large submerged log and casted my favorite bait up one side, nothing.   Threw at the back side and about half way down, felt like a truck hit it.  Set the hook and the fight was on!  It happened like I was on a bass tv show or something, felt so perfect. Wife netted it for me and soon as it hit the deck, the lure fell out.  Weighed it and took some pics with my sons and released it for another angler. Just need to photoshop my shirtless dad-bod out of the pics to post.  LOL

Great day on the water, even though I only got 2 fish.

Fallen way way behind in my reports since grandpa passed...........so much so that I don't remember a few things. The high lights of the last few weeks are:

I have fished 3 tournaments since my last report, 2 with wnybassman, and one with RIck............and we have WON all 3!!!

The best fish I have caught fun fishing since the last report was a 6-1 largemouth.

Anybody know anything about the altmar/ pulaski area for fishing? I bought a groupon to stay at a lodge on the salmon river this weekend for three days. It was the latest I could book my stay at the cheap price I received. Originally I was thinking I may find a stray king or steelhead since I have caught a steelhead in the lower niagara as early as july. After doing more research and finding out lake ontario is shallower out that way so the salmon river is nothing like the lower niagara  my fishing plans have changed. I'm looking for any info on a promising bass spot in that area. I will have two inflatable canoes one for my girlfriend and one for myself. I see things like the salmon river reservoir, sandy ponds, cranberry pond, etc. in that general area. But I have never been there so I have no idea where to go. Anybody have any suggestions?

Salmon River is slow this time of year. I haven't fished any of the near by reservoirs for bass though. You could drive down 81 and fish Oneida at Brewerton or near Big Bay. That's really not that far away.

I haven't fished Salmon River reservoir but it's worth a try. DNC lists both largemouth and smallmouth are present. They recommend fishing wooden structure around the shore lines, stumps, etc. Seems like a limited vegetation system due to the changing water levels. If you try it out, you'll have to let us know how it is. I have fished Altmar & Pulaski for Salmon & Steelhead for years, but oddly enough never visited the reservoir.

Anybody know how the pike fishing is in Silver Lake this time of year? I'm on vacation next week and was thinking of heading to either Silver or Cayaga. Target species will be bass and pike and I know Cayaga is usually good right now but I've always heard Silver is known for its pike so I'm kind of torn about where to go.

PS fished the upper Niagara River yesterday but it's really slow out there now. Nobody's catching anything.

Since last report.................won another tournament this past Sunday, and have been on fire this week fun fishing. These freaking bass..............slow in the morning and at night when it's semi-cool out, but have been jumping in the boat in the middle of these 90 degree days. Oh well. I got sunscreen and a big water jug. The late afternoon thunderstorms are nice, they have been keeping me cool and turning on the  cranking bite for as long as they last.........

Very distinct thermocline has now formed in my home lake at around 12 feet. And other than seeing it on the graph, I have found the other tell tale sign that happens every summer once one sets up..................Smallmouth in the weeds on hot days.

Tried to take a little walk and did some shore fishing on canandaigua lake. Caught 4 small bass. Biggest may have been two pounds.

Quick question for Farmer or any of the other regulars on Silver Lake. What is the best option for launching a boat on that lake? I launched at the state park last time and it was a bit of a circus pulling the boat out at that launch ( or maybe every other boater was just having an off day) so I wondered if there was a decent  alternative. Also wondering how the fishing has been. Thinking about coming out on Tuesday this week in search of pike and bass.
