I don't do both in the same day, usually hunt on the weekends with my hunting buddies at hunting camp and fit fishing in during the week around general house upkeep stuff. Used to hunt turkeys in the morning in Delaware County and then go trout fishing in the afternoon in the Delaware River in May. I'm not into turkey hunting as much anymore after having shot dozens over the years in the spring. If turkey hunting were like video games and they would revive after getting shot or if it could be catch and release like fishing, then I may still be into it. Now I'm just into deer hunting and I'm amped up at the beginng, but by the end of ten weeks of it I'm ready for it to be over as I need to get into the holiday things. I enjoy each season and then enjoy getting into the next one.

Can't let the WNY thread get to far down!!

Any of my WNY fisherman getting ready for bow season?? This is my first year with my own boat so I am pretty excited to hunt in the morning, grab the boat and run over and fish all day, then back in the tree for an evening hunt!

Anyone else do some hunt/fish days?

Wait? I thought this was an upstate thread? Where the heck is upstate ny anyways?

You are correct.   My mistake.

Upstate all depends on who you ask; to me it just means anything above NYC.

It was tounge and cheek. I learned spending time downstate that upstate means different things to different people.

Agree on that, I grew up in Buffalo and from growing up the way I did I had NY broken up like this:

The whole Buffalo area to me was WNY, then we had Chautauqua Lake which was its own region to me!   Then the farm was the Southern Tier, and late summers at Black Lake was "the Thousand Islands"   Everything else I thought was NYC!  LOL!

Ill probably do both now that I work nights and get out at 6am not having to be back till 730pm Monday-Thursday. Now that I got bit with the fly fishing bug I'll fish more in the fall in the past come October 1 I usually stopped fishing and had the bow in hand.

Went out on Seneca lake, hit the canal system to Cayuga numbers were there caught one 4.76 lbs under a dock. Weeds ate super thick and there's a good east current, enough where the trolling motor was only used to keep the bow pointed in the right direction

Went out on Cayuga caught good number but all small fish best 5 weighed 10lbs... winning weight was 19 lbs flipping docks all day.... couldn't get them to eat a jig, creature, or swimbait, only thing was a senko with 1/16th Oz unpegged weight. Wacky on the weeds. No wind at all either. Watched my boater find a school and catch 10 2lbsers all in 10 casts lol

And oh just had my binoculars out and spotted a triton up on some docks.... now I just gotta know what lure was used ;)

Yeah man, I saw that.  Should be a good time! Looks like we might get some rain.

Thanks.  Was there on Sat. and couldn't get a bite.  Tried a couple drifts, including east side of Strawberry island and no luck.  Judging on how nobody was sticking to the drift there I assume I might not of been alone in my lack of luck.

It's been tough on the river.. last year I was killing them by Navy Island. . Went there this year and didn't see a thing..

Up in the ADKs for our two week stay. Had great luck yesterday at a small lake near Blue Mountain. Caught about 2 dozen in just a few hours. Mostly Smallmouths and less than a foot but good fighters. Caught a few good size largemouths. Using 4 inch goby colored senko weightless on 3/0 EWG hook. The goby color seems to work best for me up here, maybe because it mimics a gold colored fingerling bait fish.
