Scorchx1245 Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I'm gonna either try honeoye, or the canal system between Cayuga and Seneca. Quote
no39 Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I drove down to Cassadaga to work on my largemouth fishing and bombed. It was a bright sunny day and found that there tons of pads here and went to work pitching a beaver. I had a few short fish and nothing else. I went to deep weeds and found nothing happening. I hate this lake, but I'm a masochist, so I keep returning. Quote
nosdog2 Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Silver beat me up this past weekend. Didn't do as well as I hoped. But that is why they call it fishing. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 5, 2015 Super User Posted August 5, 2015 City Dump was ok. Here's the biggest from the weekend, just over 19". Quote
Last_Cast Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 what do you guys recommend to use lure wise?? I want to get some input!! thanks everyone Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 5, 2015 Super User Posted August 5, 2015 That's gonna be all over the place, based on water, time of day, weather conditions, and who's doing the recommendations. Frame it this way: here's what I'm fishing, this is what I have to use. What would work? Quote
PAGreg Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Had a very fun afternoon on Waneta yesterday. Spent 4.5 hours pitching docks with a structure bug and boated over 30 fish with a few 3lbers, but mostly 2-2.5 lbers. All healthy fish. They were deep under the docks. Had to work to get the lure back to them. I went to waneta/lamoka with the intent to fish pads on lamoka, but I just couldn't resist pitching docks! Quote

Super User J Francho Posted August 6, 2015 Super User Posted August 6, 2015 That would best be served by starting another thread. General bass fishing questions aren't relevant to this thread. That said, the bass I posted above, and a bunch of others were caught on a deep crank, digging in to bottom of a barren flat 8-12' deep. Why did I fish it? There was baitfish everywhere, and bass were eating them. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted August 7, 2015 Super User Posted August 7, 2015 Silver beat me up this past weekend. Didn't do as well as I hoped. But that is why they call it fishing. What day were you there? It's been on fire since Sunday morning. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted August 8, 2015 Super User Posted August 8, 2015 I need to make the trek to silver soon with all these reports of it being on fire. Maybe Monday morning I'll load the kayak and go. Quote
nosdog2 Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Farmer, I was there on Friday and Saturday, I was supposed to go on Sunday as well but decided to remove woodchucks from the farm instead. Guess I shouldn't have! Quote
Neil McCauley Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Couple pics at dawn on LG this past week.. It has been a hell of a summer and I caught some monster smallies this year, plus a few good size LMB, a surprise lake trout and a Northern, and of course many many rock bass and yellow perch. 2 Quote

nosdog2 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Anyone rent a lake house during the summer? I was looking at possibly renting a lake house for a week next summer. If you had to choose a lake (NY) to rent a house on for a week, which one would you choose? Quote
PAGreg Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I'd go for something on Seneca or Keuka and then travel each day to a new lake to fish. Seneca is kind of centrally located between all of the finger lakes. One day Conesus, the next Honeoye, the next Kueka, the next Cayuga, etc, etc. I'd pick those two just for the scenery sitting on the deck, having a beer after a day of fishing elsewhere. Quote
Subaqua Adinterim Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 If by summer you mean until the official end of summer, September 21, I would recommend a lake in the adirondacks. You can check out one of the for rent by owner adirondack sites and get a place for a very reasonable price. We go up in September each year and it is fantastic - less crowds, no bugs and perfect temperatures. Quote
nosdog2 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 I was looking at renting a place next year July/August timeframe. Quote
Neil McCauley Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Anyone rent a lake house during the summer? I was looking at possibly renting a lake house for a week next summer. If you had to choose a lake (NY) to rent a house on for a week, which one would you choose? No question here- Long Lake, in the Adirondacks. IMO it's the ideal summer getaway...remote but still has one boat ramp access site at the southern end. There is a lot of state owned shoreline but some summer cottages as well, only reachable by boat. May be pricey to rent. It is deepest, and best to fish, in the northern end which is an 8 mile boat/paddle up the lake. I have caught some great smallmouth there, a lot on a fly. Never even caught one dink LMB there, but they apparently exist, too. It's a very good pike fishery, and has some brook trout and yellow perch as well. One of the most beautiful, well preserved and enjoyable lakes I have found in NY. My alternatives would be Indian, Sacandaga, Lake George, Saranac chain, Tupper, Cranberry. I like Hemlock and Canadice too but 100% of their shoreline is state owned. 3 Quote
LuckyGia Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Anyone rent a lake house during the summer? I was looking at possibly renting a lake house for a week next summer. If you had to choose a lake (NY) to rent a house on for a week, which one would you choose? I have fished quite a few of the lakes here. My choice based on bass fishing would be Otisco. It doesn't get all the traffic that the other finger lakes get. I also firmly believe that Otisco has the best bass fishing within 50 miles. If you want to go a little more north, Oneida is a great choice. As far as Adirondacks, great place with beautiful scenery. Just wouldn't be my choice for bass fishing. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 14, 2015 Super User Posted August 14, 2015 Black Lake…ADK and bass fishing. Quote
nosdog2 Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Can't let the WNY thread get to far down!! Any of my WNY fisherman getting ready for bow season?? This is my first year with my own boat so I am pretty excited to hunt in the morning, grab the boat and run over and fish all day, then back in the tree for an evening hunt! Anyone else do some hunt/fish days? Quote
