Super User Felix77 Posted May 19, 2015 Super User Posted May 19, 2015 Got my 1st topwater bass on Sunday. 2lb Smallie on a sexy dawg. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted May 20, 2015 Super User Posted May 20, 2015 Since last report...all on Silver: Sat. night: Took the kids out for Rock Bass destruction, 2015. We all tossed KVD 1.0's at the bank/around docks. And 100's of rock bass were caught. As well as a few decent SM and LM Sunday: I was out for 14+ hours....6am to 8pm. Morning was looking at smallies on beds lots of action, no hogs though. Afternoon the largemouth were on fire, 25+ keepers caught lots of 2.5-3.5lb fish, with the best five a 4-9, 4-5, 4-4,4-3, and another 4-3 Tuesday morning before work:....not bad, 6 decent largemouth in 3 hours. All three lb clones, except a 4-12 as the big one of the morning. Quote
TheBug Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 It sounds like Silver Lake is starting out a lot better than last year. Might have to give it a crack here in the near future. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted May 20, 2015 Super User Posted May 20, 2015 Heard reports from my former club that Silver was on fire. Quote
ColdSVT Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Anyone been on waneta/lamoka this week? Thinkin i may go there friday Quote
Scorchx1245 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Conesus was on fire today. Numerous smallmouth and a couple 4lbser green backs. Having a boat is so nice. Quote
bclark7b Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 Caught my first 5lb fish of the year at 5-4 then three flips later caught a 5-12! Along with a bunch of 2-4 lb fish Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted May 27, 2015 Super User Posted May 27, 2015 Since last report: Roller coaster ride. Strong cold front (upper 80s for highs to 50's for highs),plus general business at work, kept me off the water till last sunday afternoon. That afternoon between the holiday boat traffic, and wind was a semi bust. A 3lb largemouth, a half dozen small keepers of mixed lmb/smb, and a 4.5lb smallmouth were all I could muster up. Monday night I ventured to secret spots #1,and #2, and did OK. Lots of beat up post spawn fish, with a pair of 4lbers in the mix. Ended the night on the lake with a couple decent smallmouth in the 3lb range. Last night was average at best. A limit of 2lb largemouth, a pair of 3lb largemouth, and a couple of 3 lb smallies. Quote
TheBug Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Can I get the GPS coordinates of Spots #1 and #2? :-) Went to Silver lake last Friday because of all the good reports I was seeing and I can tell you they weren't kidding. Was kept busy all day. It has to be on fire for my amateur skills to catch that many fish. Between the two of us we were well over 50+ fish and it even started picking up again later in the day but due to fighting the wind the trolling motor battery had had enough and forced us off the water. Working on getting a second battery in there! Big fish of the day- Hit up Conesus on Sunday and the morning started out nice there. Was catching them at a decent rate (not as nice as Silver) and then late morning they just shut down and we couldn't really find them again other than one or two here and there. Hopefully Silver lake keeps going and makes up for last year. 1 Quote
nosdog2 Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Spent a few days this weekend on Silver and did pretty good. I thought the boat traffic was on the light side of what I was expecting it to be given the holiday weekend. Caught plenty of largemouths and rock, but only 1 smallie. Did manage to take some Pike home for dinner with our biggest being about 33" right in front of the YMCA. Tastey. Got approached by an older gent and his wife while chatting with a dock fisherman on the north-end (he lives on the north end as well) that said he makes his own spinner bates that are guaranteed to out fish any other spinner bait I could find. The guy on the dock said he was "Mr. Silver Lake" and is in all the papers for the fishing tourneys. Anyone ever run into him? Use his spinner? Quote

Any chance during that conversation did he mention the word "Flashabou"? lol The papers would have to be dug out of someones collection of old relics. 1 Quote

I know him, I know him well. Oh, he's "Mr. Silver" lake alright. Nice old guy, but..................and I think we'll call it day on that note. Quote
nosdog2 Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I guess so! haha He seemed nice enough, just never had someone buzz up on us while we were fishing and "pitch me" and then buzz away. All in all, it was nice to get back out on the lake, I have a lot of learn on it. Quote
bradc36 Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 Fished Lake Erie yesterday for a half hour after walleye fishing. Walleye bite was slow and caught 15 smallies on a spinnerbait biggest being almost 5lbs. Quote
ColdSVT Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Water temp on cayuga is 56f Kinda stained Tough fishin...d**n tough...managed a few smallies and a ton of very big perch Nothin is shallow as far as bass... Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted June 1, 2015 Super User Posted June 1, 2015 Since last report: All on Silver: Weds. night secret spot #1 was re-loaded with semi fresh fish.....no hogs, but decent "average" sized 2.5-3lbers. It was one after another of those that evening. Thursday...pulled a double, a few hours in the morning before work...............STUNK....a couple small keeper LM, and that's it. Went back in the evening and it was not much better. A limit of 2lbe smallmouth on topwater (at least that was fun), and my biggest Pike of the year so far at 11lbs 6oz. Yesterday morning.....I held my annual Rock bass tournament. Weather was MISERABLE.....mega wind, 40 degree air temps, steady rain all morning, but people showed up. Soaked, cold, and in a bad mood, my partner and I gave up. LOL We went and sat in the truck 1/2 way through it. Needless to say we didn't do well. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 2, 2015 Super User Posted June 2, 2015 Thursday and Friday were brutal, but I managed a couple good ones. Wednesday was out of hand, fish all day on topwater, one after another. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted June 2, 2015 Super User Posted June 2, 2015 Conesus, Canadice, Port Bay, Henlock, and a secret spot. Quote
TheBug Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 You guys and your secret spots, d**n you! Was just curious cause I was at Conesus on Saturday and we got our butts handed to us. Was a lot different from the success we had been having the couple weeks before. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 2, 2015 Super User Posted June 2, 2015 Friday was bad across NY state. I hear Saturday wasn't much better. Quote
TheBug Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Hmmm?? I'm very much a beginner here so I couldn't piece anything together as why that would be. Do you happen to have a guess why it was? Always working on getting another piece of the bass fishing puzzle. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 2, 2015 Super User Posted June 2, 2015 No clue, it's backwards from what the book says they should do before a cold front. Maybe they don't read? Quote
TheBug Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Yeah, that was part of the disappointment on Sat. Was expecting a strong bite by the book. Guess that is what keeps it interesting. Quote
