Silver has been on freaking fire this weekend. That's all I am going to say, other than each morning has been a slow start for me, but as soon as the boat traffic picks up around 11-noon, the bite has been lights out until dark.

I caught over 30 bass Saturday, with the best five going 4-13, 4-10, 4-7, and a pair of 4-5's

Today I caught just as many, but with the best five going 5-11, 5-9, 5-4, 5-1, and 4-11.

I'm in my usual end of summer burn out where I'm sick of the heat and sick of slow fishing. Spent the long weekend grinding it out at Fair Haven with not one impressive fish to show for it, just a few dinks to keep me interested enough. I really wanted to focus on the lake but the wind was kicking and I didn't wanna make the long run to one of usual spots. Fished for a while east of Fair Haven just outta the channel at the first bluff, fishing 30 FOW into 15 and marking nothing. Told myself I'm done until end of the month, then I saw the forecast for next weekend in the low 70s. Even if it's slow, at least it will be perfect temps. The Mrs and I have our first baby due Oct 5th so I think I need to take advantage of the fishing time I have for now!

Went to the thousand islands this weekend with my wife and her family. I went out for a few hours Saturday Sunday and Monday morning. Saturday and Sunday morning I caught around 7-10 LM each morning and a pike each of those mornings. Monday morning I couldn't catch anything and was broken off 3 times by pike!! Then when I was about to pack it in I threw a jig at an island that had a lot of rocks and a steep drop off and felt a real hard bite. I was almost certain it was another pike and I was about to lose another couple bucks, when it didn't break off I was happy but still thought it was a pike the way it was fighting. When I got it to the boat i realized it was a SM and a big one! Threw the scale on it and it was a new SM PB for me 5.1! So it ended up being a good morning. Def a beautiful area and really overwhelming how much water is up there!

Anyone fishing the Arcadia tournament at Fair Haven this Saturday?

Since last report:

I don't think I fished at all after work the week after labor day. I did go out after work, and after my kids football game Saturday and Sunday. Both afternoon's were just average days. Fish were caught, a big one or two each day, but nothing to get excited about.

I fished tuesday evening last week after work, it was decent with a dozen + bass being caught in 3 hours.

I fished in my solo angler weekday tournament series on Thursday on Conesus. I finished 2nd with 18.44lbs, and moved up to 2nd in the AOY standings with 2 events to go. Winner had 21.90, I was 2nd with 18, 3rd had 18, the top couple non-cashers all had 17lbs. The bite was good, but everyone...............except the winner, seemed to not be on multiple big fish.

I've been out a couple times recently with some success. Caught a decent amount of fish on Cayuga last Saturday. The low light of that trip was losing a giant at the boat. My PB LM is 6.2 I'm not sure it was bigger than that but it was in that range. This Saturday will probably be my last full day out fishing with hunting season coming up. I have a job out in Warsaw again so probably going to silver lake which always seems to make me look like a fool

So if any of you had to guess how bad Saturday is gonna suck as far as fishing goes on a scale of 1-10 what would you say.  Friday is gonna be 84 with 22 mph winds and thunderstorms then Saturday is gonna be 60 cloudy and 8mph winds. I'll be there Saturday either way, but let me know what you think?

Fished my second tournament ever last Saturday outta Fair Haven, managed a 19.50 lb bag for 4th place out of 17 boats (5 boats didn't weigh in) 3rd place was 19.95, so we were kinda close to the money.  Our bag was entirely smallies, and I don't think I saw anyone weigh a largemouth but I could be wrong. The same club will be fishing there again this Saturday but I have a wedding to attend, not entirely heart broken as the weather sounds like it will be a doozy by then. Kinda doubting the lake will even be fishable, last I looked Friday forecasted waves occasionally hitting 10ft..........No thanks. However I'll be interested to see the results from them fishing the bay instead.

On Silver...9 feet for largemouth 18-22 for smallmouth.

I am going to go out Saturday on silver and fish shallow just to prove that jfrancho doesn't know what he's talking about. Hahaha.

It's all relative to the water you're fishing.  If it's the city dump, I'm thinking 20-30'.

Not sure where you're fishing but the big lake is cold right now and fish are everywhere...deep, shallow....very shallow...

Lets see....since last report

Saturday 9/15.....fished  from sun up till sun down, it was a good morning for size with 7 bass in the boat before noon with the best five going 5-5, 4-10, 4-6, 3-12, and 3-9. It ground to a halt for several hours mid-day and nothing short of the ned rig would put fish in the boat. But the best five ned rig fish were all smallmouth and they went 3-11, 3-9, 3-4, 3-3, and 3-1.

Monday evening 9/17...fished for 3 hours or so after work. It was SLOW. I caught three all night, but they were all 4+ lbers.

Tuesday evening 9/18 was better....I again fished for  or so hours after work. Caught 7. Best five a 5-10, 4-9, 4-1, 3-10, and 3-8. The other two were small keepers.

Weds. evening 9/19......another 3 hour after work trip, and another grind for 3 bites. No size. All clone 3lbers

If I’m in the big lake, I’m fishing shallow for shiny fish ?

Went to silver from 7 till 3:30 With two largemouth which together may have cracked 2lbs. Also a sunny and a rock bass. Nothing was working for me! Fun to get out though!

I too was at Silver from about 7ish till pm.

It wasn't terrible for me, nor was it on fire.

I started on Smallmouth, and caught 5 in the first couple hours. Not a huge bag. 17lbs or so, but I had two good ones at 4-1, and 4-4. All but one of the 5 came from 15-20 feet of water, the lone odd ball came from 1 foot of water LOL.

I switched to Largemouth around 11 or so after is became obvious the smallies were not on fire. They were a grind as well. I ended up catching 4 in the first hour or so fishing for them. Including my two best ones of the day at 4-8, and 4-5. Well flipping grass died before it every really got going...except for pike, pike were on fire...today was the day they decided to eat anything and everything black and blue that fell from the sky. Somehow I managed to lose ZERO jigs, tungsten sinkers, or any  other form of rigging to them while catching over a dozen between 1pm and 4pm....including one really good one that weighed 11-14.

Then at 4pm, they stopped, and the largemouth started again. I caught 4 more before I left at 6, all clone 3.5lbers.

The weekend mornings were mid 40's and the Hudson was foggy.

I fished mid-day Saturday after errands and the temps were low 70's by then. Nothing was biting topwater so I switched to a Ned rig and caught 11 Smallmouth Bass between the hours of 1:30pm to 5pm.

Sunday I was at the river before 8am with smoke on the water I again had no luck with the topwater bite so I switched to a chatterbait with a fluke trailer. Got 1 Smallmouth before the action dried up. I switched to a TRD Tubez on a Shroomz jighead and got 4 more Smallmouth before calling it a day at 11am

Since last report:

Fished Sunday 9/23 for a few hours in the late afternoon/early evening, and it was mighty slow. A few small largemouth on the ned rig, and a few average sized ones up shallow was all I could come up with.

Monday 9/24 after work for a few hours was also dreadfully slow. I hoped in with a buddy on his boat and I only caught ***.5lber fishing behind him, and he didn't light it up either catching two the same size in the 3 hours we fished.

Tuesday 9/25 after work...much better. Got a few good ones up shallow, and a handfull of decent ones deep.

Thursday 9/27: Fished the 8th, and 2nd to last event on my weekday Solo Angler tournament trail on Silver. Finished in 2nd with 18.89lbs, winner had 19.85, and 3rd had 18.12. AOY race is coming down to the wire in the season finale at Conesus on Oct. 11th. I am currently in third with 109.32lbs....a frog hair behind 2nd w/ 109.5 lbs, with 1st being a very slim lead on us at 112lbs. I need to catch 18.5-19lbs to drop my 16lb lowest bag, and I need both 2nd and 1st place guys to NOT catch more than 15.5 lbs, as that is both of there next drop weights in our best 6 of 9 tournament format for AOY.

Thanks, I am going to need it. Both guys I am up against are good, real good. One of them is my team tournament partner, so I know how good he is. The other has been tournament fishing around here since the 19th century, he's pretty good too.

Fished either weds. or tues. night after work...I think it was weds. I can't remember now lol.

But anyways...size good, real good, numbers.....mehhh not so much. I only caught 5 in the 2.5 or so hours I fished, but they were all good ones for a 21+ lb bag.

Today I met up with Kbeeb374 even though our bait deal fell through...(but he didn't go home empty handed).

We fished from 7-8am  without any action, then got chased off the water by a downpour and thunderstorm. After waiting it out, we went back out and it was a grind all day.

They ones we caught were good ones, with one over 5, a couple 4+, a couple 3+, and a few rats on the largemouth side, and only one good 4b-ish smallmouth and a couple dinks for brown fish.

The day was not without drama, getting chased off the water by the above mentioned storm.....then the starter on my boat took a dump, and we ended up having to rope start most of the day. Good thing I only have a 25hp motor that starts on one or two pulls. I am going to take it off, get it rebuilt at the local shop, and just pull start until I get it back.

3 day weekend. Fished all 3 days I had off.

Saturday: Fished a local canal that has some big Carp in it. Saw three of them looked to be in the 8 - 12 pound range. Tried bread balled up on a circle hook. No luck they just passed it by. I will try corn next time.

F8964_BF9_61_D2_4282_AFB9_5472354_FD810.

I switched to my light action rod and a size 100 reel and caught 10 fish. 5 Sunfish, a Fallfish, a Chain Pickerel, 2 Largemouth Bass and a Rock Bass. Walked over to the Hudson River on the other side of the canal and with my Baitcasting set up caught 2 Smallmouth Bass on a Crankbait. Great multi-species day.

Sunday: Cold and rainy morning. Managed to catch 1 Largemouth out of the canal.

Monday: Cold and rainy morning again. Managed to catch 1 Smallmouth out of the Hudson.
