Ugh.  It's pretty topsy turvy over here too.  Tough to figure out.

Definitely.  And all the fish we caught were off completely different baits and structure.  One came off wood with a worm, one on a spook in shallow grass, one off rock with a spinnerbait...Doesn't get anymore pattern-less than that.

Finally  Silver pulled it's head out of it's backside today.

If sure didn't start off that way today though.

I struggled badly for bites between the morning an lunch, only putting a trio of largemouth in the boat. One 14" buck, a 3.5lber, and a 5-2.

Went to lunch, and debated putting it on the trailer or going back out...I went back out.

At some point between lunch and then the switch flipped.

I spent the afternoon catching them decently. Not a barn burner day, but considering how bad it's been the last 3 weeks or so, it was vastly better. I ended up with about 25 bass for the day including the 3 from the morning grind. With the best 5 going 5-2 from the AM, a 4-14, 4-11, 4-7, and 4-1 (the lone smallmouth of the day). With another couple upper 3's, and a pair of 4-0's even on the scale.

I fished the Seneca-Cayuga canal this weekend in a tournament. Nothing in the canal I made the 4 mile paddle to the state park on Seneca and found a mess of good fish but they were tough. Flipped black and blue jigs to the docks for a few fish I ended up finishing second right on the heels of the leader I had one dink I couldn't cull out that kept me out of the money but got lunker.

the smallie was the only only one I could get to bite in the canal all the large mouth were just cruising not even looking at anything I threw. But this smallie was on a bed and wasn't budging off it so I gave it the time to try no get it to bite which took a combo of a jig then a damiki rig.

Silver continues it's fickle funk.

Since my last report I have been out three times, and while neither time was terrible, they all were far from what expect.

I caught 12 bass last Sunday afternoon, 12 this past Thursday from 8am-8pm, and 6 this morning from 6am-11am.

About the only thing I can catch fish doing is junk fishing. I'll get one or two off beds, one or two off docks, one or two in the grass, one or two of points, etc......

Sure has been a weird last 6 weeks.

Went to Canadice yesterday afternoon.  It was somewhat breezy and tough fishing to start, and no luck for the first few hours.  It calmed down around 4pm and I started catching.  Total of 7 LMB, one rock bass and 4 pickerel.  Most of the bass were 1# or less, a couple were about 3#.  One of the pickerel was massive as far as pickerel go.  Most were caught on a pit boss, which I pegged with a small bullet weight.

I saw a young couple in a small motor boat as I was heading in and they were having no luck fishing senkos.  I told them they needed to head to a different spot where they would have better luck.  As they were going away to the spot that I directed them to, a boat came up to them and they said it ran out of gas?? Running out of gas in a car is stupid, but seriously; running out of gas on the water is a totally different story.  So this little boat ended up towing the bigger boat with 3 people in it, back to the north end of the lake.  That little motor was really chugging away as it was towing the bigger boat the 3 miles back up the lake.

On Canadice, that was super nice of them, with so little boat traffic.  If you run out of gas there, it could be a long time before you run into somebody who could help you out.

Yes, it was really nice for that couple to help out.  I hope their little engine will not suffer any ill effects from the strain of the tow. There were a few other motorized boats at that end of the lake then, but as you pointed out at certain times, there may be no one.

There are some sandy spots along the lake, near the road, where someone could beach their boat and hitch a ride to a gas station and back if no one was around.  This nice couple saved the day for these people.

Going to Buffalo for a week to visit family. Obviously bringing poles. Any one know where I can fish from the bank? Im having trouble with the search feature. My gf and sister will probably come some times idk if that matters. Looking for smallmouth anywhere in the niagra region with the canadian side included.

Any advice would be greatly appriciated. If you dont want to blow up your secret spot u completely understand il go to the river in NT. Also thinking about a small guide service. I will edit this after I go. Strictly catch and release.

GO BILLS!!!

Well my tournament season started with a bang.

It started at 6am, by 11:30 I was on the trailer headed home without a bite.

Boat will be for sale next week. I have had it. I haven't had a good day since mid-April, and after winning or cashing in tournaments for years, have laid half a dozen or more eggs in row.

Farmer - thanks for the update.  Like your update posts, not liking the results that you are getting.  It has been a crazy year, but it's still early, so better days should be ahead.

Nice fish!

I did Round Lake last week after all that rain we got. Water was up about a foot. Ran a squarebill over the top of the grass with moderate success. Most of the fish I caught were tight to the bank hitting frogs.

It's tough for me to get excited about fishing that lake though. I'm on a kayak so I have to get out there around 4:30 am before all the boats hits the water.

I've heard some great things about round lake holding some giants. I also kayak fish been planing on making it out there some point this year. Heard it gets really weedy though.

I grew up in round lake. Actually, my parents still live in town and so doesn't my grandmother, who is on the town board. Its where I grew up fishing... I can't stand that new launch. They ruined that lake 10 times over.

I never fish the banks. Only in the spring. You get the numbers at the banks, but the quality that lake has is not there. You might hate me if you saw all my big fish pictures from there, including a 9.2 and 10.6lb largemouth.

everyone is on a kayak now at that place.

and if you are interested, I filmed a show with Mike D on "Lunkerville" last year. I didn't want to do round lake or ballston because they are special places to me so I brought him to Paradox lake.

Grew up in Mechanicville. I'm more at home on the river.

I agree about the launch. It's one thing on a big lake like Saratoga, but for a 200 acre lake it becomes a burden.

Hit honeoye today to pre fish for a kayak tournament there next weekend. Struggled just to get 5 in the boat. Place is completely different from when I went in may and you could throw anything almost anywhere and catch a fish.

What happened Ww2farmer? Things still slow out there? Or did you really sell the boat and take up golfing.
