jhoffman Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Ive really stepped back from trout fishing. Burned myself out on it in my younger days, if you know my story you know why. Today was opening morning of PA's put and take trout fishing. I dont do much taking, if any and continued that tradition today. Ended up letting 12 decent size fish go, all rainbows. Caught them all but three on a size 14 bead head bubble gum colored egg pattern. The others came to standard nymphs. Funny, I was catching them and looking at them from a standpoint of a bass eating them and how big they were in relation to a swimbait. Not many of our bass lakes here have trout. 2 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 13, 2014 Super User Posted April 13, 2014 Rainbows are all I've got here this early. C & R bass season (along with most everything else) doesn't open up for 3 weeks so it's light line spinning rigs for me too. Now if we could just speed up this ice out process, I'd be golden . . . . . A-Jay Quote
jhoffman Posted April 13, 2014 Author Posted April 13, 2014 Weve finally lost ice about two weeks back. Ive got my boat hooked up as its supposed to be in the 70s today, though they are calling for snow again this week unless that changed last night. Were heading to the outer banks tuesday. Im taking an old rod and gonna give that a go too. Quote
