bassdisaster Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Can somebody Please give me your review on this.reel? I'm 99% sure I'm gonna bite the bullet and buy one but I'm nervous because I bought a curado g and took it back because it.was horrible. Help me please Quote
frantzracing0 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 The curado g was a big mistake by shimano in my opinion. That said, the chronarch is a fantastic reel Quote

Super User BrianinMD Posted April 11, 2014 Super User Posted April 11, 2014 I have a Chronarch 200E7, which is outstanding. No reason to be nervous at all. Quote
Super User Raul Posted April 11, 2014 Super User Posted April 11, 2014 Chronarchs, no matter which series they belong to, are always very fine reels. 1 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted April 11, 2014 Super User Posted April 11, 2014 At least try the chronarch.... The "G" was not the best example of Shimanos Baitcasting reel. Then you can decide ... I am pretty sure you will have a Different opinion.... But there are a couple of rock Solid company's out there... Keep trying you will Find a company that suits you! For me it's hands down Shimano.. Other Guys its Diawa!... You Have to decide.... The G .. Not a good start Good luck..! Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I have the 201E5 and love it. Buy with confidence. Quote
SenkoGuru Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I have two Chronarch E's the 200E7 and 200E6. They are very solid reels, built like a tank. Nice and smooth and they will last you a very long time. They are MUCH better than the G series reels. I also say this as mostly a Diawa/Lew's fan too but you can't go wrong with the Shimano Chronarch E, good stuff. Quote
frantzracing0 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Thanks, do you or have you personally owned one? I had one chronarch a few years back and I kick myself in the butt all the time for selling it. Mine was beat to CRAP, literally almost no paint left on the darn thing, bent handle and drag star from the guy stepping on it. That said, It was still beyond smooth and never let me down. Only reason I havent purchased another one is because I have 2 kids and im poor lol Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted April 11, 2014 Super User Posted April 11, 2014 I have a 51E its a great reel. I also had aCurado E5 that was fantastic too. Quote
craww Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Great caster, palms well, smooth drag, durable finish, fairly light, plenty of support if you need parts. Buy with confidence. Flush and relube the spool bearings if your inclined, no special tool needed on these reels and the performance increase can be dramatic. Quote
MemphisFF Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I got a chronarch E5 for trade or looking for an offer in the flea market. Great reel lightly used Quote
mattbbassin Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 i just got the 2014 200 E5 I love that real and becoming a new bass angler within the past two years i started to use this reel as a learning reel. My personal favorite feature with being a beginner baitcasting reel user is the magnetic spool control Quote

I'm 99% sure I'm gonna bite the bullet and buy one but I'm nervous because I bought a curado g and took it back because it.was horrible. Help me please The Chronarchs are great reels. Nothing to worry about there. I think the older ones are sweeter but that's my opinion. Also, the G series Curados that I have are pretty sporty, not sure what beef you had with yours other than you paid retail? Even at retail they are great reels. I prefer the E series but the G's with all of the gear ratios are great. Not for everyone I suppose. Enjoy the Chronarch! Nice reels for sure! Quote

I prefer the E series but the G's with all of the gear ratios are great. Not for everyone I suppose. Enjoy the Chronarch! Nice reels for sure! I went through 2 g series curados in a course of 6 months. First one, only used 2 weeks, the spool would not engage after the cast. SHimano replaced the reel no questions asked. Second one was OK for a few months then out of no where developed an issue with the drag, I fixed that with new washers and another month later guess what, this one wouldnt engage after the cast as well. Again shimano replaced the reel, and I sold it the day it came in. I was not wasting any more time on a g series. None of this was caused from misuse or neglect. All of my reels are kept in reel gloves, cleaned monthly, etc Also Since day one, neither of these reels were very smooth, even after a full cleaning. Their retrieve was grindy feeling and the overall reel just felt cheap. Now in my opinion, shimano is still the best in the game. I will have more in the future im sure, im just rebuilding my arsenal back up after being robbed 2 years ago so im only to 2 reels Quote
Coopdog72 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Hello I'm new to using baitcasters and the chronarch 200 e6 was my first buy ...I love it smooth tough my friends get hold of it and it's hard to get it back from them. Quote
Mick5664 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I too was rebuilding or updating my "inventory" of baitcasters and initially bought the 200E6. Very nice real, but it didn't seem to cast like my old 100 so I upgraded the bearings to the orange Boca ceramic bearing. It was like night and day. Before the upgrade I was not getting the distance I was getting from my old Curados and old Chronarch 100, hence the Boca orange ceramic upgrade. Now... with an effortless unhand roll cast I can cast further than I need to in most cases. With that being said I shopped ebay and found some bargains and purchased 5 more Chronarch 200E series reels. Made the Boca upgrade to not only those 5 reels but the 5 Curados. I ran into a deal with Boca I couldn't pass up. With all that being said the Chronarch 200E series reels are a great reel out of the box. But for $24 (for both bearings) you'll have a reel that will rival any reel, any reel. I've never cast a Calais but it can't be much better than these that I have. Oh... if you do purchase the Boca ceramic bearings, according to the rep I spoke with he stated, "These bearings are not to be lubed." If you do lube them clean them with brake cleaner, let them dry and reinstall and go fishin' Quote
illinifan4152 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 I have two Chronarch 200e7s and a 50e, and I absolutley love mine. I also owned a curado 200e7 and loved that as well. Buy with confidence, and they will last forever! Quote
