boostr Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Its a Heddon Moss Boss that I bought at Wallyworld for a $1. It has some good colors, and can probably catch something with it. Quote
boostr Posted April 11, 2014 Author Posted April 11, 2014 ...By the way Wallyworld is selling Bomber spinner baits for a $1.50 every size 1/16 - 3/8 in white or chartreuse or both with just a Colorado or Colorado and Willow... but you didn't hear it from me. Quote

Mine got them in last year, I don't know if they are the same as the ones at yours, but they're trash. Quote
Super User Raul Posted April 11, 2014 Super User Posted April 11, 2014 Well, the answer is, you fish it like a frog. The catch with those lures is that they have a very low catch ratio but are enormously fun to fish. 1 Quote
motodmast Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Looks kinda like a frog so I would try fishing it like a frog Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted April 11, 2014 Super User Posted April 11, 2014 Find some heavy surface vegetation and throw that thing right in the middle of it. Then retrieve slowly. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 11, 2014 Super User Posted April 11, 2014 Matted grass, lily pads, with a slow steady retrieve! 2 Quote
frogflogger Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Matted grass, lily pads, with a slow steady retrieve!Yep - hold rod tip high - fish it like a johnson spoon 2 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted April 11, 2014 Global Moderator Posted April 11, 2014 Id definitely just scim it on top if you're gonna thow it in thick vegetation. The exposed hook would concern me a little. I think it would be better for open areas in a pad field, or over grass just under the surface. With the bulbus shape and short skirt it looks like a variation of a Scum From without the dual hook setup. Mike Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted April 11, 2014 Super User Posted April 11, 2014 Take a file and sharpen that hook! They will work. 1 Quote

Kevin22 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Its a weedless spoon. You throw it over the thick weeds, pads, or just open water and slowly crank it back so it wobbles back and forth. If its the cheap kind that won't wobble on its own, you'll have to use your rod to "walk" it. Can't pause it though unless you stop it on top of a pad. Quote
boostr Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 Thanks for the tips. Shoot for a buck I'll use it and see what happens. LET THE LILLY PADS SPROUT FORTH! Quote
boostr Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 And if it doesn't catch jack, it will be one of those "What the BLEEP is that " conversation pieces. Quote
boostr Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 Mine got them in last year, I don't know if they are the same as the ones at yours, but they're trash. Good thing they are cheap cause I bought a few. If anything they will look good in my 3500 Plano Spinner Bait box Quote
georgeyew Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Its a weedless spoon. You throw it over the thick weeds, pads, or just open water and slowly crank it back so it wobbles back and forth. It's not weedless. The hook is exposed. If it lands hook down it will get hung easily. Quote
Kevin22 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 If it lands hook down often then you need to work on your casting. Its a target presentation, not a "launch it as far as I can" lure. Make short accurate casts and you should have no problems... I never have. Maybe 1 out of 20 land upside down. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted April 12, 2014 Super User Posted April 12, 2014 The moss boss is a lethal bait!!! It has been around for years but now soft plastic frogs are all the rage but I'll bet you if you find an area with matted grass or pads that you will do very well, most of the fish haven't seen those. For what it is worth, unless the wind is blowing 30MPH I doubt that it will land with the hook down, I don't ever remember habing it land like that and I have used that bait a lot. work the bait with the rod high as soon as it lands and with a slow steady retrieve bring it through the grass, or hop it on a pad and let it there for a few seconds and then start the retrieve again and when you get to the edge of the weeds you can let it drop and that will often trigger a strike, but don't worry about caching fish with it, they work. bartdude186 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I bought a few last year at wally world, i have had pretty good luck on them. They always land hook up for me, i also put a matching twin tail grub on mine and the bass seem to love it. i use it like a frog and sometimes with the twin tail grub on it, like a buzzbait. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted April 14, 2014 Super User Posted April 14, 2014 I never used those. Ive been wanting to try it looks alright. Anybody have luck,on,these? Yep. Works good. Just drag it slowly over the weds and pads. I've caught some of my biggest fish on them. Been around for a long time. Once you hit the edge of the pads/weeds keep dragging it out into open water for a little bit. I've had fish come from out under the pads and crush it too. Quote
boostr Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 So you would use this with you're foggn' or flippn' stick. Quote
