hoosierbass07 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 I caught my personal best yesterday while bank fishing and reeled in a two pound fifteen ounce bass! I was and still am pumped up about this catch. If you were around were I was fishing you probably heard me screaming out loud and yelling because I was so happy. Two pounds and fifteen ounces, almost three pounds! Oh, and that bass I caught had teeth! Yeah, I had to curl my thumb over those teeth. But I could feel them for sure. Quote
Mccallister25 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 I stopped keeping count, but Id say Im probably at around 20-22 so far. It's been slow for me. I dont think Iv caught a fish on anything other than jigs, a t-rig and maybe two dinks on a lipless crank. Iv been throwing Squarebills, and have yet to catch one on em. I love crankbait fishing, so Im hoping to get some soon. Quote

Squarebills 7, chatterbaits6, and I caught three and lost two on a LC 3.5 wake bait. My little fishing buddy caught 10 all on chatterbaits. They just wanted a moving bait.. almost burning speed Yesterday they just wanted a Quote
Mccallister25 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 That sounds great Teal! Like I said, Iv yet to get em to want my squarebill offering, but man I cant wait. Also correct me if Im wrong, but are you in NC? Quote

Mccallister25 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Yup, live in nc on the border of Va. Fish in both states. Ok, I hear ya. Im about 15-20 minutes from Charlotte. Where are you running your Squarebills and having the most success? Iv been running mine right off the bank, fairly quickly and having it dig in to the bottom and bounce off rocks, but still nothing. Topwaterspook Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 I've been fishing twice here at home. A grand total of one bass around a pound and one crappie. In a few minutes, I'm going to go out and try again. Quote
Jacob34 Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 I haven't even been out yet. I do *** you guys in the southern states. Other than I hate fishing dirty water Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted April 28, 2014 Super User Posted April 28, 2014 I've been out five times this year, each for only an hour or two. I caught one dink LMB @ Blue Hills Reservoir, but am pretty convinced it's been fished out because my Sonar Phone showed only the odd ping here & there, which is supported by comments made by other guys who fish there. I found another small pond (more like a big puddle) where I caught another dink LMB on a Rapala crank bait. My Sonar Phone said the water temp was in the low 40's. Quote
JBogg7509 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I'm at 95 bass, a few crappie, and a limit of trout. Quote
bass2bluegill Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 i cant even keep track...... but i am in the south so its alot better fishing than up north in my opinion Quote
Super User Teal Posted April 29, 2014 Super User Posted April 29, 2014 i cant even keep track...... but i am in the south so its alot better fishing than up north in my opinion Alot of those guys may still have ice or seasons that are closed still... They will be on the fish soon. Down here in the south and middle of the country we have fishin with no real stopage. There's a lot of good fish, fisheries, and fishermen up north.. Give it a few weeks, guys like AJay, MNbassman, JFrancho, FrogTurds,Speedbead, WW2farmer, WNY, will all be spanking our butts. Those guys and plenty of others on here and nation wide prove that there's plenty of good fishing up north. I'm just glad that I don't have to deal with ice or in the MN guys case a closed bass season. 2 Quote
Super User RoLo Posted April 29, 2014 Super User Posted April 29, 2014 For some reason I can't get myself to count fish (into quality not quantity). This year it's somewhere between 3 bass and 3 hundred bass, probably closer to '3' Roger 2 Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 29, 2014 Super User Posted April 29, 2014 It's been a slow year for me due to the extended cold weather. 337 bass so far which is 317 less than this time last year. Quote
einscodek Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I think we NE-erners are gettin jealous hearing bout the spawn-time bass fishin down south. Fish up here in Jersey still bite but its a winter/early Spring bite.. fish are still just snapping out of it and I am seeing some aquatic vegetation budding. Went fishing once for 2 hrs on an afternoon and finally caught a male 15" on a jig after frantically trying to search and cycle through my lures to figure out what the state of affairs is and where they are. Siebert Outdoors Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 If your talking just bass. I'd guess around 200. I dont keep track very long. I'm hoping starting tomorrow this number increases by 10 fold. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 29, 2014 Super User Posted April 29, 2014 Ice has been gone for 2 weeks today, I have been fishing 8 times......but only 3 times for more than 2 hours. I have already lost count. Quote
Browns7213 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Been fishing 4 times here is the catch. 1 Bass 1 Crappie 12 Blue Catfish Quote
firerat Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I cast my first bait in 7 years this past Saturday. Managed to land about a dozen or so LMB. Largest being about 3 lbs. All on Texas rigged Culprit 6" junebug worms. So nothing real special but fun. Sunday evening I found a great hole for Peacock's and pulled in 3 in an hour!! Landed those on a rebel frog. Largest being about 3 lbs. I'm hooked (completely pun intended) again!! Quote
