OntarioFishingGuy Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 What do you think the best colors for frogs are. If it helps any, i live in Ontario. I normally use the Koppers Livetarget fogs over weedbeds and mats. Thanks a bunch Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted April 10, 2014 Super User Posted April 10, 2014 White or chartreuse bottom in sun - black or dark bottom when dark or cloudy Couldn't have said it better myself, except to add a translucent color when they seem to by just boiling but not taking a solid color in clear water. I have seen it help turn the slappers into biters. It didn't seem to matter what the color was, just as long as it was translucent. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 10, 2014 Super User Posted April 10, 2014 Different situations call for different colors, but my favorite is probably Booyah's Swamp Frog color. Quote
Maico1 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Find the color that matches the frogs that live in the waters you fish..Go Koppers. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted April 10, 2014 Super User Posted April 10, 2014 That Booyah look just like a Spro. I think its called Green Tree color. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted April 10, 2014 Super User Posted April 10, 2014 As somebody said different conditions/situations call for different colors. General rule I tend to do is "match the hatch" try to get colors similar to the type of frogs you see at your local waters. But then again I have never seen a black frog and that is my go to frog color, when fishing my soft plastic frogs. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted April 10, 2014 Super User Posted April 10, 2014 Black and white Bonus for a bright neon color on the top just so you can see it better, not for the fish. 1 Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted April 10, 2014 Super User Posted April 10, 2014 I have said this before= The bottom of the frog color catch's the the fish the top color of the frog catch's the fisherman!!!! The fish never see' the top of the frog! Just give me black and white frogs and I am good to go! 1 Quote
BradGuenette Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I have two colors of frogs in my box, Black & White no need for anything else. 2 Quote
nowicki2005 Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Does the color matter as much when you're fishing over pads or thick mats? Or is the lighter colors in bright light darker in dark light apply to more open water situations Quote

If overcast and clear water I may go white but if slop or a sunny day then black I would throw! Open water these rules are the same for me BUT, I may want some red or chart. on nose or belly of the white frog in a clear water open water area. Quote
daiwaguy Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Light=Light Dark=dark. Equation finished. 1 Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted April 11, 2014 Super User Posted April 11, 2014 I love black belly and white bellys. Just depends what color, they want. Ive had days where black doesnt get looks but white is smashed and vice versa. Also brown bottom is great . 1 Quote
Bass NC Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Honestly I've oy thrown black, yellow and green frogs and the fish seem to respond equally well with all of them so I don't think color is as important as presentation. Quote

Kevin22 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Match the frogs usually. We have a lot of bullfrogs and greenfrogs here, as well as a lot of toads. So greens and browns tend to do best. When going for a reaction strike, bright colors on bright days and dark colors on dark days. Quote
OkeechobeeAngler Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 This. The frogs in S.Fl have white bellys and they appear darker as it gets darker. White or chartreuse bottom in sun - black or dark bottom when dark or cloudy Quote
mattbbassin Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I like to use the sexy bull frog color in the spring. In the winter i use other darker more nautral colors Quote
MichiganFishing1997 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 The all white Booyah Pad Crasher works well for me. I mainly aim for a darker color belly when its overcast or darn stained water, and a lighter belly when its sunny or clear water. I think how you fish it is more important, if I want to fish through pads, and similar cover id use something like a pad crasher. If I want to fish slow il use a lunker hunter, if I want to make a lot of noise il use a popping frog, and then lastly if I want to burn it across the top il use a buzz frog. Christian Quote
Lip 'em! Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Pretty much like everyone else has said, I worry more about the color of the belly of the frog than the back. I've done well on black, white, and chartreuse, with chartreuse being my favorite during the day and black my favorite during low light conditions/night. Quote
