When bass come shallow, especially in & around cover and want a moving bait, I like swim jigs.

But the exposed hook is sometimes problematic, even with a weed guard.  So by adding the attracting qualities of a skirt to the Rage Rig, you get what is essentially a Texas rigged Swim Jig or a Swimming Rage Rig.  Since the weight is hung under the bait instead of mounted up front, the rig want to ride and stay a little higher in the water column.  A nice characteristic especially close to the bank.

The rig from line to hook consists of a stopper, a Cobra Black Head or a Paycheck Baits Head Case with the spring removed (I painted the white one), your choice of shirt and whatever weighted swim bait hook you prefer.  These are Falcon Lures Bait-Jerk EWG Hooks.

The plastics pictured are a Gene Larew Biffle Bug. a Rage Lobster, and  two Rage Eeliminators.  The plastic you chose can be almost any action type deal you’d normally use as a moving bait trailer: even a swim bait like a Skinny Dipper.

It makes a decent search bait, great for soft bottom area and is good from the bank as well.  One could even rig it with a very light weighted hook (or no weight) and drag it on top.

So is that bullet head NOT weighted?

No, it is not weighted.

It's the Cobra Black Heads or the Paycheck Baits Head Case.  You can check them out on TW.

Designed to assist your bait through cover, they are both constructed from durable hard plastic, and made to be rigged in front of your weightless soft plastic baits.

They come with a spring in the back to screw into the bait.  For this rig, I remove the spring and slid a skirt on the peg.

Good Stuff A-Jay... The Rooster on a weighted 1/4 or 3/8 5 to 6/0 hook makes'em SQUIRM too  ;)

Those look great, A-Jay, and will most definitely catch you fish! Perfect for milfoil and other sloppy weeds.
