BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 8, 2014 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 8, 2014 If you're going to buy a boat, a trailer, a truck, gas, rods, reels, line, and a tackle box stocked better than your refrigerator...YOU MIGHT AS WELL FISH.Don't let a little rain keep you away! 3 Quote
macmichael Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Wife thinks I'm nuts for fishing or even hunting in the rain. Quote
fishinthedacks Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Love fishing in the rain. It's usually just you out there. Very peaceful, relaxing. Especially if it's mid summer nice and warm. To me this is when the real fishing begins. Especially if it's a heavy passing storm. I've caught my biggest fish as soon as that cool summer rain comes down for 20-30 mins onto a really warm water. Seems like it's crack for fish. (Saying that reminds me The King of The Hill Episode lol) 3 Quote
JaxBasser Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Fished in the rain today and had my best day of the year so far. It's my favorite time to fish. Quote
Pocketfisherman1 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I've caught some of my biggest fish in the rain or on overcast days! Quote
Jay Ell Gee Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Fished in the rain today and had my best day of the year so far. It's my favorite time to fish.As I was reading this post I thought to myself... This guy HAS to be in Florida, fishing in the rain in April. I can't say much, though. Most of last week was in the 80s for us!I also enjoy fishing in the rain. The bass are already wet, right? 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 8, 2014 Global Moderator Posted April 8, 2014 Rain? pfft. We fished through downpours, lightning, and HAIL at Table rock last Thursday, steadily catching fish the whole time BPS 100mph suits and we were dry as a bone when the sun came back out. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted April 8, 2014 Super User Posted April 8, 2014 Fishing in the rain is good. People that don't have rain suits clear off the lake. 1 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted April 8, 2014 Super User Posted April 8, 2014 Only downside is it takes a little longer to clean boat.....big deal Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Fishing in the rain is awesome. It also chases all the jet skies and power boats off the lake. Quote

Super User WIGuide Posted April 8, 2014 Super User Posted April 8, 2014 Rain or not, if there's fish to catch I'm going to do it! ....or at least try. Haha Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 8, 2014 Super User Posted April 8, 2014 I fish in the rain A LOT. Which is one reason my next boat will not have any carpet or wood. Quote
tholmes Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I don't mind fishing in the rain. THe problem is, at least around here, is that rain is usually accompanied by lightning, gusty winds and sometimes hail. I won't fish in a thunderstorm. Tom Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted April 8, 2014 Super User Posted April 8, 2014 The fewer people the better so anything that can send most other people packing I am down with! Quote
hoosierbass07 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 So the general thinking is that during spring/summer, when it it warm/hot out, when it rains that cools the top water off and the bass will come up to the top water to cool off. Correct? Quote
ColdSVT Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I hate fishing in the rain...hate it! However i usually do well in the rain and didnt drop the coin on the BPS 100mph suit for nothin! Lol I especially like throwing a LC sammy in the rain Quote
The Commodore Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Once I hear thunder I'm gone. Although in Florida you can still get struck even if you never hear thunder. The fishing is good but in Florida, it is risky. Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted April 10, 2014 Super User Posted April 10, 2014 If it starts raining and it's warm out, I immediately head to my neighbor's pond, the creek flowing in pushes out a lot of current and the fish just stack up right there. If there is any electricity accompanying the rain, I stay indoors. It's not worth it... Quote
CDMeyer Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Rain or shine I'm out there, only thing holding me back is the lighting Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 10, 2014 Global Moderator Posted April 10, 2014 Real men do that in their skives while smoking a cigar, haha. I wonder if they make 100mph speedos? The rain was a little cold for anything less than what we had on and no way you could have kept a cigar lit in the downpour we fished through. As for the last one you'll just have to keep wondering, I'm not Googling it 1 Quote
