I.rar Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 So I've been rocking a fanny pack slung over my shoulder for my tackle but this year I'm really going to give hardbaits a try again and I just can't fit anymore in there. Along my search for a slightly larger bag I came across this http://www.planomolding.com/product.php?BCCID=112&PID=672 The included boxes are a plus but not really needed. I've used a sack pack in the past but didn't really like the lack of pockets. Does anyone else use small soft sided bags? Suggestions? Quote
coak Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I use a military issue Medics bag. Three zippered pouches and can hold a ton of gear for such a little bag. Plus there's an adjustable shoulder sling so you don't have to worry about putting it down. You may be able to find on @ a military surplus store or online somewhere. The main pouch was designed to hold 2 quarts of saline so I can fit 5-6 Plano 'small' boxes of lures. Quote
Kevin22 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I use a backpack for beating the banks. I just put in what I think I will need and have more in the truck if needed. Not a fan of carrying a bag around with me, I'd rather have it on my back so I can walk around and fish without having to set the bag down and pick it up again. I carry a leatherman in my pocket and have a rapala folding measuring board, a tape measure, and a digital scale in the bag. I did just buy a spiderwire wolf bag for a boat bag when I'm fishing with someone else, very nice bag but its the opposite of what you want. Its huge. It was $50 on amazon with free shipping. Quote
I.rar Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 Lol yeah my fishing trips are limited to a few hours at most so I don't need to bring everything with me. I've been very happy with my current bag but I just can't fit anything else. Currently I fit hooks, small assortment of weights, shakey heads, a few hard baits, spool of leader material and 4 bags of plastics. That thing is packed. The tools go in my pockets. I had a military gas mask pouch that would of been perfect but that thing disappeared between moves. I'll look into the medic bags. There is a surplus store not too far from me. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 8, 2014 Super User Posted April 8, 2014 I use a fanny pack, I can get 6 or 7 of these lire boxes, each box will hold 3-5 items. The fanny pack has an extra pocket for leaders, and small misc items. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/polybags-boxes/371111.aspx Quote
Preytorien Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I use one of the little navy blue tackle bags you get free with the Bassmaster subscription. It fits 3 Plano Hydro-Flo boxes in the main compartment, and a smaller utility box in the front very effectively. It's my super-mobile bag, I love it. Quote
Talonman Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I went with a 3500 bag... http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/133439-the-wife-wanted-to-go-to-cabelas-tonight/ Page 2 shows just what it will hold. My tackle bag would hold one more tray, so I ordered this: Plano 3450 6 Compartment Stowaway - $2.59Dimensions: 8.25" x 4.25" x 1.38" The dimensions of the Plano Pro Latch Utility Box 3500 are 9.13" x 5" x 1.25" - $2.89 The stock 3500 tray, won't hold a 6th Sense Crush 300DD. The lure is too wide. A 3500 will successfully hold a 6th Sense Crush 250MD. I am hoping that a 6th Sense Crush 300DD will fit in the Plano 3450 6 Compartment Stowaway. I would like the ability to take a few big boy baits out in my small tackle box. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted April 8, 2014 Super User Posted April 8, 2014 I don't fish from the bank much, but when I do I've got the bag they give you for signing up for B.A.S.S. That works pretty well. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 8, 2014 Super User Posted April 8, 2014 Perfect for bank fishing. A Plano 3600 fits nicely in the back pouch. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Safari-Vest/722816.uts Quote
Super User webertime Posted April 8, 2014 Super User Posted April 8, 2014 I use an older version of this. Holds plenty plus it mounts to you several ways so you'll be comfortable. http://marmot.com/products/details/bodega Quote
BassThumbAddict Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Okuma makes a tackle bag that is a backpack. It can hold 4 3700 planos in it. It cal also fit all of you plastics in the main zip compartment. Has rod holders as well. Quote
BigPharma Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 Mossy Oak has a messenger-type sling bag that can hold 2-3 3700 boxes plus 2 smaller boxes. It also has multiple outer pockets, a rod holder, inner pockets, etc. I recently picked one up at Dick's. Great bag for bank fishing. Quote
I.rar Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 Thanks for everyone's suggestions. The 3700 is a bit large for my style and would really prefer a 3500 sized bag. Checked out the medic bags on the net and they are pretty expensive for what they are imo. Not going to war here, just the lake. Gonna try to make it to the surplus shop today. Quote
BigPharma Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Just realized a mistake I made....the boxes should be 3600. Sorry! Quote
Bladesmith, Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 I was in Wal-Mart the other day and saw a bag called "Okeechobee" something. It was only $20.00 and came with 2 larger plastic boxes inside with room for several smaller boxes and pockets for more. I fish mostly from a boat mostly and take several larger bags for all my junk but I'm going to get one of these and stock it for pond and creek fishing. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted April 12, 2014 Super User Posted April 12, 2014 I just use an outdoor backpack from Walmart for bank fishing. It was like $15 and has a good many pockets and plenty of room. I keep 3 3700 boxes in mine plus about 5-6 bags of plastics. Scale, pliers, scent, scissors,jj's,buff, and tape measure all fit in the small side pockets. Quote
ABW Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 I use a $20 academy tackle bag. It comes with 4 tackleboxes, and 3 side pockets. Just big enough for bank fishing, but not too big. Quote
I.rar Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 Welp, I dug out one of my old 10" craftsman tool bags and threw everything in there. It's a bit messy but it works since I don't carry much anyway. I also have an old 2" nylon tool belt I run through the handles to use as a shoulder strap. I'll still keep an eye out for something else. Quote

I have one in the garage with no zippers. It lost a zipper a week until there was no way to close it. Not worth trying to fix. Terrible bag. 1 Quote
Getfit74 Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 I just got the Cabela's Advanced Anglers Waist Pack last week and absolutely love it. It will hold 2 3600 boxes and had tons of other storage for soft plastics water bottle holders on each side, one felt lined compartment for phones and such. I've been out with it 3 times so far and it's very comfortable, yesterday hiked to few ponds around 3 miles and didn't even notice pack was there. It's a big improvement from my older cheapo waistpack. By the way they have them on sale now for $40, just my luck I purchased mine a week before they put them on sale. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Tackle-Storage/Tackle-Bags|/pc/104793480/c/104777280/sc/104619780/Cabelas-Advanced-Anglers8482-Waist-Pack/1571764.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ftackle-bags%2F_%2FN-1100378%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104619780%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104793480%253Bcat104777280&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104793480%3Bcat104777280%3Bcat104619780 Quote
