Happy birthday

I like throwing frogs into pads. If there are pockets in the pads cast past the pocket then walk the frog through the pocket. I generally fish frogs pretty slow too.

All good advice. Just wanted to say happy birthday. You can tie a pretty basic knot honestly. Nothing too fancy. Learning how to walk the frog may take some learning. The right rod and reel helps as well. Preferably like a 7:1:1 reel, with a heavy rod with a thick braid 50-65lb seems to be general consensus. But isn't 100%.I got my first KVD Sexy Frog as well this year. I've used a lot of other frogs. Looking forward to trying it. The pro I talked to that was at BPS said he keeps a KVD Sexy Frog and Booyah PC on his boat all year and will fish the banks with it in tournaments even if it's the wrong time of year for it. He says if nothing else is working his KVD and Booyah are relentless all year. Haven't proven this for myself just his advice to me.

happy birthday..

one key point to remember when fishing frogs.....once you see or hear the slurp or blow up....don't set the hook...and that that will be hard to do at first.  but, pause, give the fish the chance to swallow it...then a good strong hookset.

once you catch a couple on a frog...you will be addicted to them...they can be sooo much fun...

good luck..

Happy birthday! Frogs are awesome. You're going to want to fish that on a stiff rod preferably with little bit of a tip and braid. Throw it in the thickest stuff you can find. It doesn't have to be grass either. Don't worry about getting hung up. You can get it to walk by keeping your rod tip low and twitching it towards you and the back at the bait creating slack. You'll want to fish it fairly slow, and don't be afraid to let it sit. The toughest part is the hook set, you have to wait until you feel the fish. You're going to have to fight your natural reaction to set it when you see the fish blow up on it. It an awesome way to fish when you get the hang of it.

Happy Birthday and You now own an awesome Frog that will catch you lots of fish.

Fishing Frogs is flat out fun since the explosions can and will happen at all different times during the retrieve. I have a tendancy to get excited and set the hook as soon as the water is boiling, but the advice given above about waiting until you feel the Bass on the end of your line before Setting the hook and reeling is spot on.

Bass often smack a Frog with the intentions of stunning it and coming back around, or will crush it and then spin it around in their mouth since they prefer to take everything down the hatch head first. I like the KVD frogs for alot of reasons but most of all they can be fished in any part of any lake or pond since they are weedless and are also good in open water as well.

Good luck, and have some fun. Frogs catch Big Fish so Hold on tight!!!!

Happy Birthday - lots of good advice - all I would add is fish it everywhere - fish it slow, fish it fast, fish it in weeds, fish it in brush, fish it over deep open water, fish it in shallow water. Don't worry if you can't get it to walk right a way, they catch fish just chugging along. Just keep hurling the frog and good things will come you way.
