I'm not tied to one brand so I've been experimenting with various brands trying to gain some experience with each company.  Anyways I was looking for some first hand reviews on a couple of Quantum casting/spinning reels as this is likely my next purchase.  I'll list the reels I'm curious about below, but feel free to add any other input.  Thanks in advance fellas.

I picked up the Accurist PT on black Friday at Gander Mtn. I went in for a pflueger, but they had this one marked down to $40 from its original 90-something. It was too good to pass up. So far, it seems really solid. 10 bearings, very smooth, doesn't reverse. The bale wire is indestructible too- can bend it any way you want and it snaps back into the same position. I cant say that I have put it head to head with any other reels in the 90 dollar price range, so I don't know how it compares, but I am sure it will catch fish all the same. I don't imagine that you would be disappointed

quantum is one of my favorite brands, they are in my opinion the best bang for your buck company out there... i have no experience with their spinning reels, but i do with the casting reels... the energy pt is an awesome casting reel, it is light, strong, and reliable... it performs close to many of the 200.00 range reels... the smoke is arguably the best casting reel quantum has made, it is a very long casting reel, especially when dialed in... I dont have any experience with the tour MG, but it looks great, i was able to play with one for a while, and it had a great feel, unbelievably light, and smooth... but once again no on the water experience with it... Even the lower end reels are quality options like the kinetic pt, the catylist pt and the accurist pt... many people don't like them, so i am sure some will chime in, but i enjoy my quantums, they are great workhorse reels...

I had a quantum pt spinning reel, I exchanged once then finally returned it.. It would wind the line back on tapered while fishing, which for me caused the ling to birds nest after so many casts.. If I cast real far and retrieved fast it would be even.. I exchanged for a shimano ci4+ , best decision I made... Much nicer reel and it comes with shims in case it winds diff for diff line or you want it to wind different...

Check out the 'older' Tour Editions as well. I'm talking about the 'chrome' finish reel. You can prob find one used pretty cheap. They are a solid workhorse of a reel, and flat out perform as well. Another option is the KVD Tour as well. Again a solid reel. When dealing with Quantums, keep in mind that the ACS takes a little getting used to, but once dialed in the reel is like butter. Also the 'older' Energy PT is another great option that could save you some dough for either a rod, tackle or just spare change in your wallet.

Although I don't own one, I have fished with a Smoke and was impressed. It's lighter and cheaper (cost) than my Daiwa Sols, but performed well with lighter baits.

I have a smoke pt30 & accurist pt30 spinning reel and imho they are the smoothest reels.

Any of those reels will be great. I use Tour Edition spinning reels and they have been flawless. Can cast a mile and the drags are excellent. Just picked up 2 Smoke 150's and 1 EXO but havent fished them yet. The Tour MG will be my next reel. And I havent fished or handled the new Energy, but if its anywhere near as good as my gen2 Energies, its a winner. They have been fantastic reels for me for the last 5-6 seasons.
