Went to the local Wal Mart with the thrifty wife and stumbled on a couple of Rapala Crankin Raps.  I have not seen this bait while catalog surfing.  Two color only and at a little over 5 bucks it seemed like a bait worth trying. Model CRR-5, 1/2 oz., single internal rattle, VMC hooks and is rated 4 to 5 foot depth. It actually looks like a decent bait. Melon shad and Helsinki shad only. Worth a look.

I tried them last year and caught a lot of fish on them at the river. One of my favorite attributes was that it was so detailed. It had nice eyes, maybe scales and gill patterns molded onto the bait if I recall correctly.

The one I got was the 4-5 foot diving one. I got the one with a square bill. It was great, I caught a lot of fish on it.

Another thing I really like about them is that they have a lot of colors that utilize a clear/paint scheme. For instance, one of my favorites to throw in this clear water river was a clear/grey-ghost color with a black back and a little bit of red in somewhere, can't exactly remember where the red was.

Also the price was very good.

I'll be picking up some more and throwing them this year.

I grabbed one when they first came out and have done pretty well with it. They take a beating pretty well, most of the fish I've caught on mine has been grinding it through rocks.
