The free, personal air show is cool the first day.  Day number 3, not so much.  One more day to go.

Lol.

I stay only a few miles from the homestead air force base. They don't fly over often, but when they do, it's c130s and fighter Jets just over my roof.

I live about 1/2 mile south of Lakeland Airport, which is the host of the Sun n Fun fly in.  The big boys are here Thursday through Sunday.

We have the world famous Salinas Air Show every October here where our office is located.  Sonic booms going on all over the place when the show is on.  Scares the bejesus out of me every time.

So Cool!! I remember when I was a kid, they would hold the Miami airshow at the  Opa-Locka airport and I could hear and see them practice after school.

I just watched the F-22.  Nose straight up to about 1500 ft, pause still nose up, back down to about 1200' still nose up, flip 270 degrees and haul @zz the other direction.  That was cool.

I love war planes WW2 planes are my favorite but man are the new jets awesome. I would be drooling with that flying over my house.

We had two F18s fly over on my deployment as a show of force at like 100ft like so low you could see the rivets in the thing. They came in over the mountain buzzed the village and punched the after burners I got a chub over it lol.

I could watch those all day long. My favorite, like most, is the F14 Tomcat. My brother-in-law flew one for 20 yrs in the military. He's a commercial pilot now.

Yeah that's about right.

A10s are pretty sweet to I've had them buzzing the trees above me when that gun opens up it's pure awesomeness I can't remember if it was at Ft. Drum or one of the other bases that the A10 range was right next to our machine gun range so they were coming in for runs right over our heads. I think it may have been in Ft Irwin California now I think back

When I was a kid. We had some big 2 or 4 jet engine Army cargo plane circle my neighbor hood. It could not have been munch above 1000 feet. Don't know why it was doing it. It never happened before or ever again.

Maybe a C17 another awesome plane I had them doing touch and go or what ever they call them across from my barracks when I was in camp Shelby Mississippi as well at the airbase in Rome I spent last summer at.

It could have been. It woke my 11 year old butt up. I watched it for like 10 minutes. Before it headed south. All I recall is the noise, the od color, and black U.S. Army painted on the side.

He's probably too old for it to have been a Globemaster.  If it was a "jet" then it was probably a C-141 Starlifter or maybe a C5 A Galaxy.

It is more likely it was a turbo prop C130.  It is odd that it had US Army painted on it. He might have seen some "Special Ops" plane.  Even airborne troops jump out of AF planes.

Sounds like a C130 "Spooky" gunship. It's the only thing called spooky that will let a marine sleep like a baby because you know if it's overhead "flying the cone", nothing is gonna get to you!

Thanks for the names of them. I can eliminate the c-141 and c5. The C-141 is to long and narrow in the cargo area. The C5 is way to big. That is from looking at pictures on Google and what I recall. It could have been a Glboemaster also. According to Google. The Gen 3 Globemaster came out in 95. In 95 I was 10 July of that year. I know I was 11 because it was the summer between 5th and 6th grade. It was also around the time of the EAA Air show in Oshkosh WI. That happens every year. Well the Air show was about 2 hours SE of me. Like I said I watched it in till it headed south. The EAA show is were a lot of military plans. Get there Official public release. Like I said I don't recall munch. I also know the local airport could not support a plane of C130 or Globmaster size. I only know of like 5 air ports in the whole state that can handle planes of that size. One is in Oshkosh.

What ever it was? I will say it was cool. My 11 year old pre teen mind was loving it. I bet a naked woman could not have distracted me. Even though it woke me up at like 7am.
