First weekend of the Bass C & R Opener -  water and air temps low 40's with a pleasant 20 mph+ East wind.   Not the best of conditions.

5 day Forecast ~ 5 days of cold rain.

It's like a bad dream.

That was the last few weeks for me.  It's been so cold and rainy here- and when it was clear it was so windy the crank would almost land back in the boat on a cast.  The rivers I like to go to were also running so high and fast that you couldn't even get close.  The spots I like to stand on were under feet of raging river.  The lakes and ponds are still very high here  but the water is at least warm enough for them to be hunting in the shallows again.

Thankfully it all comes around.  Just spend your downtime wisely and you'll be better off for it!    :Victory:  :xmasicon_mrgreen:

Its been raining for 3 days and expected to rain throughout opening weekend, water has still not returned to normal levels after the snow/ice melt, wondering how much it is going to suck fishing on saturday :P

54 and mostly cloudy on Saturday, 58 and partly sunny Sunday for opening weekend down in Madison...and still have not heard that the boat is done with service.  Will be out regardless, just a matter of how and where.

Something's blooming and my allergies are acting up. I think I need to leave the office after lunch and go fishing. Yeah, that is exactly what I need to do.

On my mind is catching a fish so I'll be heading out in a little bit for my afternoon session.  I don't normally get skunked but I did this morning, no snook or barracuda and the peacocks weren't even eyeing my lures this morning, not 1 strike.  That crap don't fly with me...........lol.

Skunked this weekend, trying to come up with a gameplan for basically ice out conditions. Should be a bit warmer after this week. The lake just seemed so dead, tried dragging jigs slow, drop shotting small plastics, jerkbaits with longggg pauses, notta. Fished off of points and underwater humps that're known spawning areas, nothing to show for it. Followed 2 loons around the lake, they seemed about as lost as me. Got cold and rowed back in dissapointed. Tossed my hudd 68 around for the first time,it swims awesome... and Ive got confidence it'll nab me one of these fat trout eaters soon enough, DEC is stocking the lake with 6-8" rainbows  this weekend. Random rant, just want to lip something soon.

THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS YES!!!  Getting off the bank was the single best thing I've ever done for my fishing.  Stealth mode paddling into every perfect spot imaginable...  Just get a sit on top with a nice seat and a fold up 3lb anchor and you'll be good to go.  The world will be your oyster!

Cloudy and windy.  Really wondering if I will ever get a fully nice day- you know, the sun out AND sub 15mph winds?

Really tired of just working through crap conditions.  I mean, it's still better than not fishing but man...  Having a cast land where it's supposed to or spending a whole day not being blown all over the lake would be really cool haha

What size hook do you generally use for different size flukes? I have some Zoom super flukes and Im not too sure what size hooks I should rig them with. I have 2/o 3/o and 4/o. Ive been thinking its mainly between the 2/3 but Im not sure. What do you guys think?

Can't catch a cold as of late. Had a bass and a walleye hooked today but they got off as I was lifting them from the water....it's like ordering a shake at McDonalds and they tell ya' the machines aren't working. Nothing worse!
