Was out with some friends last night when the wife panic'd blowing up my phone about the washer wouldnt turn on. When I got home, I found that she just didnt wanna spin.

A little investigationa and I found what I thought was the culprit. A $4 coupling, barried in the machine, the whole thing would need to come apart and the quickest I could get it was 5 days. Locally I found a factory part for $15 today so I grabbed it on my lunch.

It was a job that would take a pro ten minutes. It took me about 30-45 but Im certain I saved a pile of money. This couper is in so many machines that it fits almost all major brands.

The coupler arms on the motor side, all three were sheared off. I put the new one in and were in business.

If you ever have one quit spinning, anyone with basic mechanical knowledge and youtube can perform this fix.

Most parts on home appliances are interchangeable between brands.

Side note, when you install it, you must put it on flush with both shafts. After that the first couple of loads you will smell something goofy, thats completely normal. Just dont pound the fittings down past flush with the top. I stuck a screw driver in the center and hit the point with a hammer. Its a tight fit. If you went too far, you will burn up the new coupling.

Bingo.  If I fix it I can be blamed for the future breakdown.  Plus she wanted a new one anyway.

That's what I did too. Its not that I can't fix things. Its that I have no desire to do that in my spare time.

Mine just did this a few weeks ago but the white part of that coupling on the motor side was broke into 3 pieces. Got the new part the next day for $10 and was back up 30 minutes after I got home. I am willing to bet we saved a few lures worth of cash myself.
