Here is my garage sale find when I saw the wiggle warts and he was about mid 40s age, I couldn't resist, are these the pre rapala ones? The 3 small ones that look like typical wiggle warts are suspending. The two big ones look like big wiggle warts.

Anyone know or how to identify? I paid a $1.00 each.

Thanks for the info!

Pics now ha!

Yup there's a seam! And I can see the name bottom of the bill.

Not familir with the suspending ones? Any good?

No much about those bigger versions?

If those are pre rapala ( i can't tell without seeing the underside) they are in really good condition.

Storm on the bill normally means that it is pre rapala

Wrong. Storm on thr lip is the later ones and NOT Pre-Rapala.

The standard size are most desireable and current market price on them is about $10.

The Magnum are not worth that much, maybe $5.

Not sure about the smaller ones.

Storm molded into the top of the bill are newer baits. Small lettering stamped on the bottom of the bill are pre Rapala. These appear to be pre Rapala baits. Good find.

Nice find.

The big ones are Mag Warts, which usually aren't as desired as just the original wiggle warts. As others have mentioned the pre-rap warts will have "wiggle wart" stamped under the bill. Rapala warts will have "Storm". In my neck of the woods those warts would fetch you about 10-15 bucks a pop.

On the Ozark reservoirs here the wiggle wart bite is just now really starting to pick up. Just take a look at all the crankbaits the fishermen in the B.A.S.S. tournament on The Rock are throwing.

You have the opportunity for a nice return on investment.

If not and you would like to learn some nuances of a real good wart thrower, check out a youtube video of a gentleman named Dave Barker and how he fishes a wiggle wart. There is a lot of time tested knowledge of wart fishing in that video.

Sweet, i heard something about  the seam being visible and it is.

I want to fish with these bad boys since they are looking to be OG wiggle warts with all the love i keep hearing about the originals.

But hey are the suspending models in the regular wiggle warts. I assume still good little cranks?

Nice score man. Love those things and they produce so well in our large lakes her in Missouri as MO_LMB stated the bite is heating up.

I will make a long story short. I was fishing a T rig and on the fall it got nailed and took off. By the time I could get the slack in I felt that I was hung up. I knew it was wrapped around a stump because I know the lake and that stump well. Anyway It was hot and I wanted my Weight and hook back so I dove under to unwrap the line and as soon as it was loose it took off. Thankfully I still had the line in hand so I started the hand over hand trick and ended up the fish was still on it after several minutes. Must have been a really good hookset. Swam him to the boat unhooked him and watched him swim off.

Yes, some guys will put suspend dots on the originals to make them suspend. Obviously, you just need to let the fish tell you how they like it.

If you are fishing them in the right spots, I would also recommend a lure retriever  :wink2:

A good Wart hunts* on a steady retrieve instead coming in straight.

Basically, good warts were bad warts. You want one that doesn't run totally true.

I meant to say the pre-rapala have wiggle wart under the bill and post have storm. My fault lol .

They bring in good money in the right colors and authentic pre rapala. The way everybody talks about em sounds like they are only worth throwing in the ozark lakes.

I've caught pigs on the newer baits so I really think it is a mentality thing. The rapala scatterbaits are literally designed to do what an old wiggle wart would do yet they havent gained popularity.

This is not true at all.

I paid 100 bucks for a dozen pre rapala warts a few years ago and wish I had bought 2 dozen..With that said not every pre rapala wart runs great and every post runs bad, I have caught em on both.. I think throwing them where the fish are is more important...
