Nit Picking Silly Question

When you are holding your baitcaster, where is your trigger. I noticed mine is usually between my pinky and ring finger. Never thought about it before. Like I said, silly question.

I end up smashing my pinky and ring finger into it. Tried holding it as you do on occasion, can't stand it. Really wish they'd just do away with triggers. When they were designed reels were round and much larger.

Either where you are, or pinky in front of the trigger. I think it depends on the technique I'm fishing, but I can't think of exactly which goes with which right now, it just kind of happens I guess.

I know what you mean. I have been fishing forever and never really paid any attention till yesterday, while I was fishing.

trigger in between pinky and ring finger here... in my opinion it gives you the best level of control... i know some people hold them between their index and middle finger, but I just dont feel like there is any power there, and my wrist already hurts after a good day of fishing, if i held it like that i think it would fall off... hey but if it works for some people thats great...

I ask people in my bowling league whether they breathe in or out when they throw the ball, to mess them up. You find all kinds of oddities when your focus runs astray.

I've been trying to switch to how you have it Hootie.  Last year I had the trigger between middle and ring when a big pike took my jig.  I thought I was ok until it was time to winch in the boat and leave.  While winding I got what I'd call a tendonitis type pain in the middle finger. 

 

Being that the middle finger is so very important, I'm changing grip this season.

Another in between Pinky and ring here. It is weird that this is brought up because my first outing this year a buddy and I talked about it because I noticed all his fingers are above and mine has one below.

I have moderately large hands and fish with three fingers in front of the trigger when fishing for pike and muskie with 6500 and 7000 reels, but for bass reels I've found I need to fish 2 fingers in front generally for better control of the reel.

Pinky and ring finger also but as soon as I make a cast I switch to palming.
