dougie511 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I was wondering if anyone has been out to Newton Lake in Illinois yet this year?!?! If so how have they been bitting? and also was wondering if anyone could help me with where some good spots were to fish down there! Im looking to head down Wednesday and do some fishing and ive never been before so any help would be much appreciated! Im not asking for honey holes anything like that but if you could message me some hints on baits and spots that would be really awesome and very much appreciated!! Pumped the weather is finally breaking here for us! Quote
papajoe222 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 You may get more response if you move this to the local forum. I personally haven't fished Newton, but it's on my bucket list of lakes to visit this year. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted April 1, 2014 Super User Posted April 1, 2014 Gillespies show was filmed there last week. He didn't get a ton of bites but most were big including a few in the 5-6lb range. They were using swimjigs and spinnerbaits. 1 Quote

bonzai22 Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I haven't been down there yet I will be going in a few weeks but the fish in the warm water arm are probably spawning now. My friend was catching a lot on a swim jig a week or 2 ago. 1 Quote

bonzai22 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 As you leave the dock if you are facing away from it its on your left but it could be pretty packed. If you don't have much luck there i would try going into the cold water arm just a little ways and find some coves. 1 Quote

bonzai22 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Nice I took a day off work next week so I can go down there when it isn't too busy. May and June are really good months to go there because the fish really stack up on points. Quote
