I am 27 so I am a littl younger but I remember seeing "the man with the orange T Hat" lol. I use to watch Bill Dance Saturday mornings and then go out with my friends and catch bass, sunnies, frogs, turtles, and when we saw them snakes (this was back in NJ)

While not exclusively a fishing show, The Sportsman's Friend with Harold Ensley was a favorite of mine from the late '50s (when my family's first TV was purchased) until I was well into adulthood. Mr. Ensley was quite a pioneer in lure design and marketed a line of lures bearing his name. 

 

I still use Harold Ensley Fish Fry Coating Mix every time fry up a batch of panfish. It's the best there is.

The show that makes me chuckle just thinking about it was Virgil Ward....He always had this fish tank where he and his goofball kid would display various lures and their action ,etc.....The photography was nothing to brag about and there always was a scene where the fisherman were at the boat dock, float plane and all, talking about their latest venture.The wind would be howling making it difficult to hear ,but they always soldiered on.

I remember buying Bill Dance's worm fishing vhs at a thrift store and wearing it out, then one show I think Hank was fishing Norman in NC,being from NC i found out his HQ was 15 miles down road and begged my Gma to take me. I got to meet him and his son, I think it was the race car driver. He gave us autographs and had to leave. His son showed us the boats and gave my cousin a bunch of stuff. Maybe 2 weeks later, he had wrote me a letter with a big package and said he was sorry I didnt get anything. Box was full of bass book, tons of Manns stuff, norman cranks, his vampire spinnerbait, think stone jigs, and manns worms. As i got older all I remember is him throwing powerbait, so maybe he gave me his manns reserve, lol sorry for book, my fondest fishing memories

Always loved Bill Dance. By the time I was old enough to be following fishing, he wasn't glued to his seat by choice. It would have been awesome to see some of the guys you were mentioning in their primes!

Resurrected ~ 

My favorite growing up was The American Sportsman.

I watched it on ABC Sunday afternoons in the late 60's and early 70's. 

Host Curt Gowdy, an American sportscaster, well known as the longtime "voice" of the Boston Red Sox,

was The Man in my young eyes. 

His signature line of ‘Tight lines, folks!’ is something I still remember fondly to this day.

I think he may have - the American Sportsman show often aired immediately following the

Wide World of Sports.

I am surprised that so many are left out. Tom Mann (worming with his spinning gear), Challenge Match Fishing,Billy Westmoreland (bass magnet cranks), I know there is more. I watched them all.

My 2 main shows most of my younger years was the Bassmasters and Hank Parker's show. I watched all of the others but those 2 were my can't miss shows.

Goodness, I can't remember all the shows I watched.  Hank Parker, Bill Dance, Orlando Wilson, Jimmy Houston, Roland Martin, Bassmasters, Larry Nixon, Denny Brauer's Bass Class, In-Fisherman, Fish Fishbourne, Doug Hannon, Shaw Grigsby.... just off the top of my head.

 

You can imagine how excited and nervous I was when I first met and interviewed them in person.  And to end up as a guest on the Hank Parker show was a dream come true. 

 

To this day, it really blows me away that these guys recognize my wife and I, smile, shake our hands and address us by name.  Class acts.
