Iluvsmallies Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 So my buddy just got a new fish finder and is selling this one for 50 bucks. Is this a good fish finder? Also I have seen a couple of videos of how to mount the transducer? Will this finder be as accurate if I mounted it to the hull on the inside, or should I get some kind of side mount? thanks Quote
Crappiebasser Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 They are a good basic fish finder. It will read ok thru hull but does it have a thru hull transducer with it? They came with a transom mount and if you have to buy a thru hull it can be pricey. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 30, 2014 Super User Posted March 30, 2014 You can use the included transom transducer as a SHOOT-THRU if your hull is suitable for that installation type. You will need the accessory temp sensor for water temp TG-W The alternative is the SHOOT-THRU XP 9 20 T which has a remoter temp sensor. Properly installed, a shoot-thru works as good as a transom mount in an appropriate hull.. Quote

Iluvsmallies Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Is it pretty easy to mount the transducer? Ive seen videos of people using plumbers putty make like a little pool of water. I dont understand can someone explain..... Quote
MacP Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Just use plenty of 3M 4200 If you get to the backside of the screws put a dab of 3M on the predrilled hole spots in the back and in the front. Should be water tight Quote
