So I'm going to be in Canandaigua, NY week of July 15th.  Possibly bringing my kayak but not definite.  Any advice from locals on this area?  Lakes to def hit?  Camping recs.?  Also are there any good places to rent a boat in case I leave the yak at home?  I know zero about this part of NY, but judging from google maps, it looks insane as far as fishing opportunities.

All the Finger Lakes offer bass fishing. I'm unfamiliar with with the eastern ones. Boat rentals, at least 14' rowboats, are much harder to find, if at all, compared to years ago. If you bring your yak, Honeoye and Conesus could be a couple of places to try, although both can be very crowded. I don't know much about the fishing in Canadice, other than there are fish, but it's a beautiful place with no development, if those pristine conditions are to your liking. The lake has a 10 hp limit.

I regularly fish the four western Finger Lakes from my kayak (Honeoye, Conesus, Canadice and Hemlock).  If you want more information on those bodies of water, shoot me a pm.  I know for a fact that Mark's Leisure Time Marina on Conesus has rentals -- both smaller boats and pontoon boats.
