WhiteMike1018 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I can't for the life of me rig this swimbait. Everytime i put the hook through the body it either comes out wrong or the gap of the hook is too small. Pretty sure the hook im using is a 5/O keel weighted hook. Can someone either link me to what hooks they use or something? I think its because the bait is so stiff and the body is so thick that the hook just digs into it instead of riding on top. Quote
mjseverson24 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I use the owner 5/0 twist lock keel weighted, and they work great for me... Mitch Quote
BassObsessed Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I havent rigged them by themselves yet but on the back of a chatterbait has been productive. Quote
JeziHogg Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Owner Beast 4/0 for 4 inch, and Owner Beast 6/0 for 5.5 inch. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 29, 2014 Super User Posted March 29, 2014 I usually rig them on a VMC "Ike approved" 5/0 weighted swimbait hook, with the 1/4 oz keel weight. I will fish that from the bank out to 10-12' FOW over the top of grass. If I need to fish it deeper, I will peg a tungsten sinker to the nose, while still using the keel weighted hook.......but shhhhhhh.....your not suposed to do that LMAO. 1 Quote
paangler13 Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 If you can get away with it cover wise, I like to put them on a 3/8-1/2 ounce jig head. Otherwise I use the 4inch on a BPS swimbait hook. I actually like a 5/0 but have used as small as 3/0. Tight lines, Jim Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted March 30, 2014 Author Posted March 30, 2014 this wasnt helpful lol, I dont know what size hook that is Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 30, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 30, 2014 this wasnt helpful lol, I dont know what size hook that is Doesn't really matter, 90% of them are caught with the treble hook anyways. It's a 4/0 Luck E Strike swimbait hook, but like I said very few of them are ever hooked with that hook. Once that treble hook is pushed in all the way it's pretty protected by the front hook bend and the fins of the bait, so it will come through a surprising amount of cover still. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted March 31, 2014 Super User Posted March 31, 2014 Bluebasser86....... Nice riggin! That treble stinger is the deal!! Quote
