Don't compare Dez with Desean Jackson.  Dez has been a model citizen the last few years.  He is highly regarded by the veterans on the team as well as his coaches.  He's matured A LOT since his first 2 years in the league.

Didn't he hit his mom last year?

Jackson was the loose end when they got rid of Vick. They are buds and when Vick didn't play Jackson didn't play to his potential. Everyone knows that and you ain't getting that back without Vick, since he's gone there's no point on having Jackson too.

Good chance he'll follow Vick too

Not sure i completely agree with that as far as playing to his potential.  His best year ever was last year and that was without having Vick at the QB spot for the most part.  I still think they knew what was going on when they re-signed him and offered no guaranteed money after the second year.  Give him a shot to be a better teammate and if not, see ya.  Kelly is a lot like reid in that he wants his guys and if you don't play or buy in you are welcome to go somewhere else.

And as far as the Eagles being a stand up organization, I can't see why anyone would say otherwise.  They get rid of character problem players regardless of talent, give other players second chances when nobody else would give them a shot and help them become better people.  You rarely if ever see any of the Eagles players in the news except when they are getting released or traded lol

yes. that doesnt count.

Hitting a woman is bad enough but hitting your mom takes a special kind of person....and not in a good way

I am so ticked about this. Eagles are my team and we were stacked this coming season. We will still be good but man he was clutch.

Not sure which Eagles you watched but he was not clutch except a nfew times and pretty much disappeared come playoff time.  I like the guy and it will be hard to replace him but they already replaced one part, the return game when they signed sproles.

Rookie head coach gruden has a lot of diva to handle in his first year....also RGme can't say anything about not having weapons or make any excuses.

It tells me a lot about the behind hte scenes stuff when you have a career year and get cut, your former coach doesn't want you, not one teammate has come out against hte deal or wishing him luck and a guy in the peak of his career chooses the skins instead of a contender....he will probably torch the eagles secondary assuming RGme can stay upright and make a pass.  It definitely makes things interesting and i would bet that the skins eagles game in philly will be on national TV....It does vault the skins to the top 6-7 receiving corps in the league though.

I wonder if kelly has so much faith in his system that he feels he can replace most of hte production with another player....time will tell but all in all, i can;t argue with a guy who won the division as a rookie head coach and the rest of the team seems to buy into the system and one player doesn't.

See, you nailed it.  The skins problems were not on offense per se, while they were not elite by any stretch they weren't bad and had some pieces but their defense and special teams were atrocious yet not addressed by this move and now they are right back into salary cap purgatory.....

And also keep in mind, even if jackson results in doubling the win total the skins still don't make the playoffs :)

Easy there killer , no one said anything about playoffs , I would be happy with a better than 500 season , even at that I would consider this year to be a successful building block .

I am with you just making a point...he is a great talent and if he gets his head on right would help any team.

This is a big year though for the skins with a ton of good players up for new salaries after this season including RGme, Morris, kerrigan(I think) arakpo.....

Gonna make for some interesting water cooler charter where I work :)

BIGGEST improvement so far is special teams , both defensively and offensively , but the weapon we have been looking for is in this young man , speed , agility , I really saw a lot of 8 man fronts facing RG3 last season , Garcon , should have a career season , Morris should have a career season , along with Jackson , all of this can be possible if we complete the assignments and not stumble around like a bunch of lost beginners , regardless , the pressure this will relieve on the offensive line should be noteworthy .

Regardless , there are no excuses , this should be RG's year to prove his worth , I don't know about out of the gate performance , but none the less we "should" see dramatic improvements over the course of the season .

griffin has 2 more years on his deal plus the team holds an option for the a 5th year, as with all first round picks. so he is not up for a new deal. Morris also has 2 years left. kerrigan is entering his 4th year and the team will likely excercise his 5th year option if not outright extend his contract. orakpo, you are correct on, he is playing on a one year franchise deal which he has already signed, the team has till i think mid-july to extend him longterm or he is forced to play under the one year deal. trent williams is a guy the team needs to extend, he is an elite probowl left tackle, gonna cost some money. but the skins have capspace and the cap is expected to rise a lot next year with new tv deals kicking in. plus we have two salary cap masters in eric schaffer and bruce allen, and snyder is always ready to open the checkbook...

meanwhile you have gm howie roseman who i compare to former redskins gm vinny cerrato. a guy who thinks he is so smart, yet constantly outsmarts himself. you have an over-obsessive head coach in chip kelly. in time thats going to turn players off. saw that with shanahan in dc.

we've done a lot to improve special teams, and that includes jackson returning an occasional punt. we also have signed Andre Roberts from the Cards who can return kicks. plus weve signed a bunch of mid-level free agents, mainly inside LBers who can play special teams. and i agree that jackson gives us a weapon we havent had in awhile at WR. not since Moss was young and in his prime. having a legit deep threat will open up a lot of other things in the redskins offense. garcon and roberts will be able to thrive underneath. morris and even griffin will have more running lanes because safeties and LBers will have to drop into coverage more often. and lets not forget what this will do for tight end jordan reed. he will not have to worry about seeing double coverage. of course it all depends on the work they put in and if they can execute properly.

hopefully we can find our safety in the 2nd round of the draft, we did re-sign merriweather and brung back ryan clark after all these years. but we do need a long term solution there. i also think we need more depth at in- and out-side LB and offensive tackle

I don't have a dog in this fight,...

But... Fun fact, both Jackson ans Griffin III wear the number 10 . I pretty sure Griffin isn't coming off of it. I wonder what number Jackson will be.

I should have been more clear in that yes they still are under contract but they can then begin to sign long term if wanted which would be after this season, as it has been the standard for how these deals go since they changed the structure for first rounders.

I am also not quite sure how the comparison of Roseman is accurate though....what bad deal has he made as of yet other than the asomauagh deal?  the Eagles have always been a great team with cap management and signing younger players earlier to longer deals to save money and provide flexibility.  they have also never hesitated to let guys go that were ready to leave or did not fit their system.  I do also see some obsessive tendencies with Kelly but it seems like all good coaches are that way and it obviously worked last year.  The Eagles were healthier than ever and won the division.  This year will tell a lot though as teams have the opportunity to study in the offseason but at the same time, Kelly will have a full off season as well.

Should make for an interesting season at the very least.

And Jackson will wear #1 because that is where he is......at least in his mind :)

I hate seeing players other than kickers wear the number 1. I hated the choice when cam chose it

it has potential but adding one piece isn't going to make it from average to world class in my opinion.  RG still need to get his head on right and he still needs time in the pocket.

They have a long ways to go. Essentially losing 2 years of first rounders has to hurt. Offensive line is really bad and most are smaller shanahan style zone guys, not a fit for Gruden. Other than the inconsistent Hall, the secondary is also in very rough shape. In addition, London Fletcher retired.

The Jason Hatcher signing was a head scratcher, he wasnt very good in his first 7 years in a 3-4, has one high level year on a contract year playing the 3 tech (on a D that lead the league in pass attempts against). He was known as a bit of a knucklehead in the Dallas locker room also.

The combination of Garcon and Jackson WILL open that door , tight ends will see a lot more play , I would be willing to bet Morris has the best year yet , reaching the secondary will be a more common thing for him , the 8 man front that we faced a crap ton of last year will hurt more teams this year , that alone will give RG more time !!
