I think it is pretty well known that i am an Eagles fan so that's out of the way.  Obviously there is a lot more to this story than we all now but i for one, am not mad at all that the Eagles stood up for what they believe to be the right thing to do and not making a decision based solely on performance.  It is hard to argue it is anything other than that when he was coming off a career year.

This story is going to get crazier i am sure as more info comes out too....time to start looking at the WR in the draft i guess and hope one that is available has some sped and hands.

Still trying to figure this one out.

Good player but seems like a head case.

Hope Carolina can get him on the cheap. Probably not gonna happen. Panthers are strapped for money

There were reports from our news outlets that the Patriots were looking to trade for him. There was also 1 other team, which escapes my mind that wanted to do the same thing. Not sure what happened there and why a trade was never made, but there was speculation that the Eagles wanted to get younger at that position. Not sure if that's true, but that was reported on our news outlets.

Well there are a lot of ties to gangs and suspects in current and previous murder cases.  Apparently these same people were coming around some of the facilities as well.  I am guessing this was a semi-planned move though as his contract had no guaranteed money after two years.  He has been a problem child since day one but nothing you would think he wouldn't outgrow at some point.  It does make you wonder why nobody would offer anything for him over the past year or so and why Kelce, the center who just go an extension, tweeted out 3 minutes after the announcement that he was happy with the way the team was headed.

It is a huge loss for the Eagles offense though no question about that....

I saw Rivera said he likes him, then the owner said no way...Pats are gonna sign him for a year and add him to the 2014 super bowl winning team.

I did see something about getting some new camera equipment for the patriots this year..... :)

Speaks VOLUMES to me that they let him go....at this point, Jackson had apparently become more trouble than he was worth as a player...and he is a really, really good player.

Real stand up organization. Didn't they sign a former dog killer, and let a guy play who made racist comments on camera? But, they "think" he has gang ties, so they cut him????? Pretty stand up I guess.

Vick paid his price and did his time and got another chance, Cooper said something stupid once and apologized and never did anything again, same with Vick.  And contrary to what you think, i doubt he was cut strictly for gang ties.  There were a culmination of things that showed a pattern of behavior and having potential gang ties is one of those things....there must be a lot of things going on that nobody knows yet to cut a pro bowl receiver.

He's going to Oakland. It's a perfect fit.

"Doubt"

"must be"

"nobody knows"

That says all I need to know. Until hard facts are presented, this is all speculation. Not saying he didn't do anything to deserve to be cut, but to speculate is not something I am fond of.

While a fantastic, dynamic player, Jackson always came across (to me) as a complete moron.  The first time I ever saw the guy play he caught about a 40 yd pass from Donovan McNabb, against the Cowboys, and dropped it to celebrate before he crossed the goal line.  My guess is the gang thing was either the straw that broke the camels back or a convenient excuse to get rid of knucklehead and bad influence on younger players.  I give the Eagles props for cutting a guy who is an obvious asset on the field.

Don't compare Dez with Desean Jackson.  Dez has been a model citizen the last few years.  He is highly regarded by the veterans on the team as well as his coaches.  He's matured A LOT since his first 2 years in the league.

He isn't other than the diva-ness. Until jerry jones fires himself the cowboys will continue to be an afterthought. Which is fine with me

Walking off the field on his team + throwing temper tantrums = matured????? Oh okay. I never saw Desean Jackson do that, but the Eagles are a standup organization????

It's bad when Jerry is interviewed and admits that "Jerry the owner would have fired Jerry the general manager a long time ago."  That's another thread for another day though.

I just hope he doesn't try to sign Jackson.

The bar started really, really low with Dez.  Throwing a tantrum because you're upset that your team is playing poorly is different than throwing a tantrum because you're not getting the ball, the way other receivers do.  I only know that because the audio is out there.  When guys like Jason Witten defend him the way they do, it says something.  I didn't say he was mature, I said he had matured a lot. lol

At any rate, this thread is about Desean Jackson.  Start a new one if you want to bash Dez.

Jackson was the loose end when they got rid of Vick. They are buds and when Vick didn't play Jackson didn't play to his potential. Everyone knows that and you ain't getting that back without Vick, since he's gone there's no point on having Jackson too.

Good chance he'll follow Vick too

LOL, okay, I understand. It would be like me saying Kendrick Perkins is playing great if he were averaging 7 ppg and 8 rpg. Because that would be much better than what he has shown.  :)

From reading this thread, sounds like he has some serious personal problems and associations.  Do the Pats want to risk having another Aaron Hernandez?
