FlipnLimits Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Oh boy, this topic! Happens all the time with men and their toys and wives. I don't hear much, if ever, about fishing stuff because there's more than just fishing stuff, but the argument can be the same with all hobbies. Sometimes I hear, "wow, you have a lot of stuff!". I just reply that I could have spent the money at a bar or a strip club like some men spend their money. We both laugh because neither of us drink and the subject changes. I never say a word about her spending habits and sometimes remind her of that. One thing though, my wife always supports my fishing and tries to help with some of the work involved with sponsors, schedules for our kids events, etc. She does support my silly fishing hobby. Raider, I know it may hurt to hear her negative comments and you need to change her perspective. Show her some trophies, if you fish tournaments, or bring some filets home and justify the price of the hobby. It may not happen overnight but slowly change her perspective. Remind her it's healthy to fish as it keeps you out of trouble or bars, etc. FL Quote

Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 29, 2014 Super User Posted March 29, 2014 Continuing on. I may have told her I was rotten fisherman, but she was a rotten knitter. Also told her I needed 20 thousand to buy a worm farm. So I could fish like she does. Before anyone passes judgment. This conversation took place at 4AM. She also wasn't being hateful. She just has issue with my excessively large lure collection. Its something we joke about quite frequently. If the ladle incident wasn't enough, you are tempting fate. A Vietnamese chef with a ladle is far less dangerous than a woman armed with knitting needles, though they aren't as nasty as crochet hooks with their barbed points. Quote

Oh, I see, it's because she's expecting! Well then, you have no retort, whatsoever! She is correct on all accounts and you will agree. lol In that case, tail between the legs and a loud "yes dear" is all that's needed out of you Been there, done that, we have several little FL's running around the house. Unfortunately, when the kids were young, it meant some lean times for fishing. I made it a point to spend every minute with my kids and wife if I wasn't fishing or working. Congrats to you guys! Your first child? 1 Quote
