I have been emotionally scarred this morning. Words can cut deeper than anything else. My loving pregnant wife was upset over my recent lure purchase. She told me and I quote. "You are the worlds worst fisherman. Why do you need more lures?" Sniffle sniffle . That was totally uncalled for. :( Just cause I screw around when she accompanies me while fishing. Don't mean I don't know what I'm doing. Doesn't help either that 9 times out of 10 we are sitting on her grandads dock when I'm fishing around her.

Continuing on. I may have told her I was rotten fisherman, but she was a rotten knitter. Also told her I needed 20 thousand to buy a worm farm. So I could fish like she does.

Before anyone passes judgment. This conversation took place at 4AM. She also wasn't being hateful. She just has issue with my excessively large lure collection. Its something we joke about quite frequently.

I tried having a conversation with my wife at 4 am once , only to find out early in our marriage , she is not a morning person at all .

Pregnant women get a pass on EVERYTHING. You are NOT entitled to "come back".

p.s. I don't show my wife any gear, she doesn't care.

She ain't either. She wakes up for the 30 minutes that I'm getting ready for work. Then she goes back to sleep.

What bothers you more? That you suck at fishing or that even your wife can tell?

Ouch. Combination of the two.

It would have hurt worse if one of your fishing buddies would have told you that.

I fish.  I hunt.  It is what I spend my money on.  I don't get manicures, pedicures, or $150 hair appointments.  She spends money how she wants and I do to.  Comments have been made though, "Why do you need more lures? You have some I bet that have never even seen water!"  It happens.  I'm not any good at bass fishing.  I am however better since I found this site.

x2,000 on her getting a pass on the pregnancy!  Just get her back by turning the little into a mini me and rub it in!   :laugh5:

Perhaps she logged in to BR and noticed the inordinate amount of posts in the "Everything Else" section on a fishing forum?

They're still better than sticks and stones.

My girlfriend has also gotten into the habit of asking me "Why do you need any more fishing stuff?"  I just ignore her.

I once compared a really GOOD fisherman to a professional baseball player to which she replied, "What's so hard about fishing?"

Sigh!  Some people will never understand.

I was going to say "Just give your wife a pickle" but it sounds like you already have. : )

When my wife asks why I need more fishing "crap", as she would put it, I tell her that I knew it would strike up a very good conversation between us. It's something we don't get to do too much since we had kids...She walks away, conversation over...LOL

See Raider, win win, she wants nothing to do with fishing and I get piece and quiet play with my fishing toys... :eyebrows:

My gal is completely oblivious to and could care less about all things fishing. All she knows is that I like to fish. Works for me.
