Mikell Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Who normally has the better in-store casting rod selection DSGs or GMnt? Quote
MainelyBASS Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 IMO Gander has more of a selection, however DSG usually has a handful of the newest high end rods on the market, but not many of them. I have also noticed that depending on your "local" DSG selection varies. Some DSG's that I have been to had Loomis rods and Shimano Stella reels, other stores have had mostly field and stream rods and reels. Quote
B@ssCrzy Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I would say Gander Mountain for sure....at least in my neck of the woods. 1 Quote
Jon G Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 It depends on how many other tackle stores are in your area. Where I am at Dicks is the only "tackle" store (until the gander mtn opens across the street next month) so they tend to have a lot nicer rods such as g loomis, higher end st croix, and i have even seen a couple cumaras pass by. So if there is no real competition in your area i would say dicks otherwise it would almost always be gander Quote
daiwaguy Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 The DSG in my area has a horrible selection of rods, ofcourse there is a BPS about 5 minutes down the road. No GM so I cannot comment on that so I completley agree with what Jon G posted above. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted March 28, 2014 Super User Posted March 28, 2014 In my experience, and I've been to both, GM has considerably more rods. Quote
Mikell Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Sorry I can't help you on this one. I haven't been in a big box store in many years. Ron well if i had more local shops or they had more rods in their selection id probably go that route but they dont hah Quote
ak47soulja22 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Gander mt in my area for sure, unless you count field and stream (which I believe DSG owns) then I'd go with f&s/ DSG. Buy gander has *** plus all the other good and top brands Quote
Mikell Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 well I went to both after work they were within 2 blocks of each other and gander had more but not a single one of them had the rod type im looking for lol 7'2 7'3 MF or MHXF, why is 7'2 7'3 such a hard size to find in stores? lol anyone got a rod like this for like 100? lol Quote
fishva Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 In my area, Gander Mountain has a much bigger variety. But Dick's still has everything I need 99% of the time. Quote
Mikell Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 I wish it was that way where I lived lol that is a hard size to find unless you just order off a website i was hopin to have one for fishing this weekend lol Quote
Stingray23 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 DSG used to be good. I was there yesterday hoping to buy some stuff and I was disappointed. Quote
