Who normally has the better in-store casting rod selection DSGs or GMnt?

Posted

IMO Gander has more of a selection, however DSG usually has a handful of the newest high end rods on the market, but not many of them. I have also noticed that depending on your "local" DSG selection varies. Some DSG's that I have been to had Loomis rods and Shimano Stella reels, other stores have had mostly field and stream rods and reels.

I would say Gander Mountain for sure....at least in my neck of the woods.

It depends on how many other tackle stores are in your area. Where I am at Dicks is the only "tackle" store (until the gander mtn opens across the street next month) so they tend to have a lot nicer rods such as g loomis, higher end st croix, and i have even seen a couple cumaras pass by. So if there is no real competition in your area i would say dicks otherwise it would almost always be gander

The DSG in my area has a horrible selection of rods, ofcourse there is a BPS about 5 minutes down the road. No GM so I cannot comment on that so I completley agree with what Jon G posted above.

In my experience, and I've been to both, GM has considerably more rods.

Sorry I can't help you on this one.  I haven't been in a big box store in many years.

Gander mt in my area for sure, unless you count field and stream (which I believe DSG owns) then I'd go with f&s/ DSG. Buy gander has *** plus all the other good and top brands

well I went to both after work they were within 2 blocks of each other and gander had more but not a single one of them had the rod type im looking for lol 7'2 7'3 MF or MHXF, why is 7'2 7'3 such a hard size to find in stores? lol

anyone got a rod like this for like 100? lol

In my area, Gander Mountain has a much bigger variety. But Dick's still has everything I need 99% of the time.
