jesse1378 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 im new to kansas too. i have heard good things about melvern. one thing you can do is google. melvern fishing reports. you will get all kinds of info from current lake levels and conditions. it will pull up forum posts that you can read. they may not be current but if they were posted around this time of year it will give you a start. do you have a boat? if you could get some water temps that would give people a start to give ideas where to fish. The dam is good provided you can get past the swarms of walleye boats I'm sure are parked there right now and the white bass aren't loaded up there hitting anything that moves yet. Wiggle Wart style cranks can be good but the zebra mussels shred line so be ready to retie very often if you do that. Quote
Championboat175 Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 Thanks you guys Any certain color better for a jerk bait Quote

Championboat175 Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 Thanks I went there Saturday only one bite on a jig by swimming beach tough day threw everything from a t rock 78 jerk bait to a shaky heady. Wat is a Ned rig that everyone talks bout Quote
Wachati Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Ned rig is a finesse technique created by a Kansas native named Ned Kehde. 1/16 jig head, elaztech worm like the zinkerz by zman, and your choice of line on a spinning reel. I run 6-8lb flouro seaguar tatsu. Some run 10lb braid to a flouro leader. I tried nano with leader and didn't like it because any moderate wind makes fishing nano a nightmare. Super glue helps keep worm on, they like to slide around. Quote
