I would like to thank Brian Needham for helping me put this together. Please tell me what you think and if you think any changes should be made, thanks.

733 full handle = 12# line throwing 3/8oz spinnerbaits, 1/4oz trigged craws, or 7 in worm. 3/8oz spinnerbait rod. you will be using this rod for any tubes too. I use it as a spinnerbait rod and even throw some topwater on it.

734 full handle X2 = 15#line. everyone calls this rod the catch all do it all and I cant disagree. 1/2oz spinnerbaits it is perfect IMO. 3/8oz jig work is too. since you will probably getting two of these rods you will be using this rod the most. I use it as a 1/2oz swimjig rod with a grub trailer. I will throw a 1/2 swim jig on it because it is a moving bait and can stand the extra "working tip" I would not however throw a 1/2oz football on it.... you probably can, but it is not my preference........ I will even throw a buzzbait or keel weighted rage toad on this rod.

735 full handle = 17# or even 20#..... all your 1/2oz jig work, 3/8th 10in worm work, lighter pitching, beavers with a 1/2oz weight.... I use it for my 5in big hammer rod with a 3/4oz head.

764cb RM medium divers..... now here is somewhere I am not well versed, but it is something I am about to buy for myself.... I want a rod to throw DT10 to a 5xd on.

Great choices

And thank you! You also helped me pick out rods that I need and was very helpful.

That is a well thought out list. The 764CBRM was designed for Normans Deep Little N's and similar sized baits. It should do very well with your DT10 and 5xd's. Brian did you right. If you throw scroungers, the 734 will be your go to rod as well.

How is the the bend in the 734 like 70% backbone 30% tip? I have no where to feel it but I already have one champion (spinning) and it's a 701 and I has a good deal of backbone.

I think, based on past discussions Grant and I line up fairly well on what rods we like within in line up.... if Grant gives his blessing then I feel you got a pretty good list.

there are several great Dobyns users here on the boards!

Blessing my be abit much lol. My only suggestion might putting braid on the 735 so you can use it for frogs or in heavier weeds. You can always use a leader. I just prefer to have at least one rod with braid.

As has been said, the 734 is going to be a do it all rod so having two of them is a great idea. I have four of the 4 power rods just because they can do so much

Brian doesn't know what he's talking about. Trade all your rods to me for ugly stiks.

Only kidding. Looks good to me. Very similar to my line ups, which Brian, among others, helped me put together thus far. Enjoy your rods!

Yeah, theres a lot of helpful guys on BR, i might sub out that 765cb  for maybe a cheaper cranking rod, maybe a powell, duckett or st.croix around the 100 -150 dollar range.

I threw a dt10 on a st Croix avid  MH  mod last week , and I have to say I liked it.... I liked it enough that it made me want to crank.

I have no idea where the avid is in the st Croix line though.

My arsenal consists of a 683SF, 744DX, and 705CB.

I would get a 683 or 703 for senkos, flukes, small jigs and texas rigs, squarebills, rattletraps. The 703 is one of my favorite rods. pair that with a reel that has 12lb line on it.

704 or 734 for bigger jigs, spinnerbaits carolina rig, bigger bait texas rigs. i would pair this with 15lb or 17lb fluoro or 30lb braid

if your gonna do any heavy punching or frogging in heavy cover, grab a 735, but if you just flipping docks, weeds, etc.. the 704/734 should have more than enough power for you.

than grab a 705CB graphite cranking rod. it can do it all. topwaters, squarebills, rattle traps, deep divers, shallow cranks. one of the best cranking rods out there.

Motodmast that post helped a lot I am looking for two rods to do exactly what you mentioned. Other than length is there any advantages one over the other 704 vs 734? Big spinnerbaits and Texas rigs are the name of my game.

I am sold on the cranking rods I hear so many great things about them.

Pigslayer explained  , along with myself fish more open type water... there is some grass and some wood, but not thick to make you think you need to up power your rods.

unless you are fishing tight quarters, dodging tree limbs, ect ect always go with the longer rod, IMO

only my squarbill rod is 7 foot, everything else is 73x, or 74x. especially when you get into worm/jig fishing the extra lenght helps on hookset, controlling/moving the fish, and keeping a fish pinned.

you are talking BIG spinnerbait and texas rigs....what are you calling BIG?

no difference between 704 and 734 that i can notice. I prefer the 704 because it is a tad bit shorter, i have a little more control when im skipping a bait up under a dock, or up under a tree. It also works just fine when fishing grass, i can make long casts just fine with it. to me, its the perfect 1/2-3/4oz jig rod. if your gonna be fishing that 1/2-3/4oz jig in heavy cover, get the 735. but if your flipping weedlines, docks, stumps, overhangs etc... 734 IMO is a perfect rod. thats what i use mine for. also, i feel 15lb fluorocarbon is perfect for that rod

i went through this thread thinking why are people throwing a 1/2oz football on a 734....

so I had to go outside and tie one up with trailer and I have to say, it is correct.

I haven't fished a 1/2oz jig on a champ series in a while, the 784ML(almost XF tip) is my 1/2oz jig rod or a 745...... so I stand corrected.

the 734 champ is a fine 1/2oz jig rod

3/4oz I still prefer a 5 power...... and if a guy is going to throw 1/2 and 3/4 only I still get a 735. I only like a tip for casting, working a bait I just want the tip to quiver, not bend...if that makes sence. owning all the powers gives a guy choices too.

it just goes to show..... we all have our likes and preferecnes even with in the same line up.

3/8 to 3/4 oz spinnerbaits most of the time 1/2, 1/4 to 3/4 oz Texas rigs with 10" worms, big creatures etc.,1/2 to 3/4 jigs plus trailers.

Guess nothing super big but larger than 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4 trigs and finesse type jigs I have a rod that covers those. It depends I fish from shore but like a long cast and hook set out of a rod. Most areas trees are not and issue(except that one that snagged my popmax).

3 powers are awesome 3/8 and 1/2 spinnerbaits rods, more a 3/8th spiinerbait IMO

4 powers are awesome 1/2 spinnerbait rod.... I dont have any 3/4 spinnerbaits or I would tie one on and try it for you.

for the big worms you described I have to say a 735 ... 1/2 weight plus a big 10in worm is a good chunk.... thats my opinion but I dont throw much 10in  worms.. I do plan to this summer though.

sorry cant be more help.

I only has the champ 734 when I had the 7'1 ***
