I know a lot of guys on here use the Avid Series 6'6" MF model for jerkbaits, topwater poppers, and flukes but has anyone used the 6'6" MF Premier rod for the same purpose? I'm leaning towards this version simply because it would save me around $70. I'm not sure if these rods are built of the same blank or what makes one diff from another. Thanks!

Those are good rods, they'll work just fine.

I would think that would work just fine! As others have said the Premier is a bit heavier but it'll work fine. Premier sports a SCII Graphite Blank and the Avid has a SCIII Graphite Blank

That explains that then, I must have missed the SCII vs SCIII blank difference. Thanks!

According to the St. Croix web site, an Avid spinning and Premier spinning rod with the same specs weigh the same thing. In casting rods, the Premiers and Avids have different handles, even with the bigger handles, the Premiers are only 2 tenths of an ounce heavier. Not much of a difference.

....  another thing is the Premiers have a 5 year warranty and the Avids have a manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty.
