BostonMahhk Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Quick question guys. The higher end walk the dog baits don't come with a split ring on the nose. Are you suppose to put one on yourself or do you tie directly to the stationary circle/ring that's imbedded in the nose of the lure? Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted March 26, 2014 Super User Posted March 26, 2014 Generally the lure maker will provide the tying method they recommend for a bait. If none are there, tie direct. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 26, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 26, 2014 Tie direct, if you add something to it some of those higher baits are built so precisely that even a split ring or small snap may throw the action off. If you're really concerned you can always tie a loop knot so you don't restrict the baits action. 1 Quote
frogflogger Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Talk to guys that throw them regularly and you'll get different opinions - myself I usually tie to the eye if no split ring but once in a while I'll use a snap and like what I see. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 26, 2014 Super User Posted March 26, 2014 All my Sammys came with a split ring. I cut them off and use a #2 or 3 duo lock snap. One type of bait that hardly ever comes with a snap is a popper. I tie direct for those. Quote
BostonMahhk Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 Thanks guys. This is the first time I sprang for a high end lure like this but all my spooks and sexy dawgs, etc always had a split ring on them so when I noticed these didn't have one I started to think. Quote
