planebrutal Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I gave two bass tournaments in april the 10 and the 13 I am confused on were the bass will be staging up at or should I plane on sight fishing plz help Quote
fishva Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I'm really interested in this as well. I'm not in the tournaments, but I'll be camping on Kerr that weekend. Right now, it looks like the water is warming up (it's ~45 now, compared to ~42 a couple weeks ago), and the water level is high. Hopefully both trends continue. Quote
jeremyt Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Water should be in the bushes. So plastics ( brush hogs and flukes for me) and if you have a good wind spinnerbaits. Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 26, 2014 Super User Posted March 26, 2014 Depends on the water temperature; if the Dogwoods have bloomed by that weekend; and the water levels. Take all into consideration and you will find the bass. Many of us will be 1) looking for bedding bass; 2) hitting the routes the bass take to their beds if they are not bedding; 3) throwing plastics into the bushes; and 4) fishing the floating docks. Weather will have an affect on your fishing - warm or cold fronts moving through the area; rain; wind; blue bird skies; or overcast clouds. Get the water levels and you will know if the bass are in the bushes. That is where you want them. Quote
planebrutal Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 So what temp will I be looking for Mr bass to be in the bushs Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 27, 2014 Super User Posted March 27, 2014 To answer your query let me ask you a question: Do you know bass behavior at various water temperatures? It is imperative that you read about how water temperatures affect bass behavior. Buggs is heading into the high 40's and low 50's. It is the water level that will push the bass into the bushes, especially when the temperature goes over 50*. So do some research on the affect of water temperature on bass and what the bass will do at various water temperatures, including their metabolism digesting their prey. Full pool in Buggs is 300. To be "in the bushes" the pool needs to be 303 and higher. Call this number and find out the pool level and follow it up to the day of your tournament: 434.738.6371, ext. 275. Look for the Dogwoods to bloom and how along they are to determine if the bass are moving up to their beds. Check out any Buggs Island blogs you can find and read what they say. You may want to check out Bobcat Lake County Tackle, too. http://www.bobcatslakecountry.com/ Let us know what you decided to throw and how you did. And do your research. Quote

fishva Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Check out this page. He gives weekly fishing reports for Buggs Island. You won't find a ton of specifics, but it's still very helpful IMO. http://www.kerrlakeguide.com/charlie-taylors-kerr-lake-fishing-report Quote
