buzzfrog Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 want a reel solely for buzzbaits, I have read mixed reviews, is this reel worth the price on sale Quote
bootytrain Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Its worth the money. Great caster, solid feeling for being a carbon composite. Casts farther than the Tatula and has lots of spool options. The minus for me is that the spool tension sucks, I have to tighten it all the way down to get it to start working, and the hump on the bottom of the reel on the handle side is uncomfortable for me for the way I palm. buzzfrog Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 Just wondering before I pull the trigger Quote
GaterB Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Perfect reel for buzzbaits. You can cast it out, and engage the reel as soon as the buzzbait hits the water by pressing the hood mechanism down. For 110 its a no brainer. I use mine for a little bit of everything and love it. Tons of upgrade options as well Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted March 25, 2014 Super User Posted March 25, 2014 It is a fantastic reel. The handle is the worst handle ive ever used though. I tried a lexa and tatula handle in the ones i have and the tatula handle is perfect. Oddly enough the lexa handle feels better on the tatula. Quote
c.rushing2010 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I got mine 2 weeks ago and have only been out with it once. It's very nice for 110. I'll probably get another one. I got the 8.1 version with the nice handle and really like it. Quote
mjseverson24 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I would go with a tatula over the T3-B for buzzbaits, as the aluminum frame may be better for the thicker cover(which is where i typically throw buzzbaits)... that being said i have a few T3-B's and I love them, will be buying more... Sounds like you're missing a shim or something. I've had no problems with the spool tension on mine. Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 You will not be sorry on the purchase. I was hesitant at first of the frame material but it has held up fantastically and i may start preferring it to aluminum. You will be happy with the 8. I order 2 one was the 8 and the other the 7 and much to my surprise the 8 had a much better handle which was one gripe most people had with it. It came with a handle that looked like the one you find on the lexa or exceller reels. Quote

Super User Tywithay Posted March 25, 2014 Super User Posted March 25, 2014 How can I tell? Hard way - Look at schematic to find out how many should be there. Remove shims from under cast control knob, and under the bearing on the non-handle sideplate, see if the count is right. Easy way - Add one under the cast control and see if it fixes it. Quote
buzzfrog Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 Lol got excited and bought more stuff. Got 2 day shipping lol Quote
