travis23 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Seems to be a hard answer to find. What is the best knot to join? 1 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted March 25, 2014 Super User Posted March 25, 2014 Why do you need to join fluoro to fluoro? Most people like the Alberto or the uni to uni for joining lines. Quote

I have backing on all of my reels and I've wondered if I'm using the right knot ( uni to uni). I guess I am, but the knot just seems to be a little large. Quote

You might just try it again with fewer turns if the size bothers you. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 25, 2014 Super User Posted March 25, 2014 Since it sounds like the knot is not going to come into play. I would use a simple blood knot. http://www.animatedknots.com/bloodknot/index.php?LogoImage=L 1 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted March 25, 2014 Super User Posted March 25, 2014 x2 with the blood knot. It's small, easy to tie, and hold up well. If it's where it's supposed to be in the spool, it'll never come out anyway. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 25, 2014 Super User Posted March 25, 2014 Blood knots are fun to tie, lol. Blood or a Uni to Uni will have about the same profile and work for you. You could try a triple surgeons knot, but passing the entire spool through the loop might be a pain. Quote
hatrix Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I only do a small uni to uni when tying to backing just a couple of turns. A full knot with heavier line can mess up how your line spools on the reel and make it stack to one side or you feel it with your thumb in a long cast. Quote

I would trust it if I had to in a fish fight, and its much easy for me to tie Quote
travis23 Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 I ended up tying a uni to uni. Thanks for the advice! Quote
