What is the advantage of using a LC to lets say a Strike King or Bomber? Talking cranks here.

Are they actually worth the extra money and do they really catch $9 more worth of fish?

I'm just a recreational fisherman right now but trying to get into some tourneys.

I don't know if they are worth $9 more but they work for me. I still use my bagleys and rogues. they are all part of my arsenal. try one. you don't have to break the bank and buy 20...yet.

I don't think there is a dollar amount for the advantages that would apply to everyone. It all boils down to personal preference. How much is it worth to you to have the majority of your baits running true right out of the box?

They're worth it to me, very quality cranks that I have confidence in. Mainly a fan of their shallow cranks and pointers, not much on their deeper divers though.

This may sound funny but I had to work my way up to them. What I mean by that is that when I first started fishing cranks I was loosing quite a bit of my cranksbaits. Had I started throwing LCs right off the bat I would have been more worried about losing them then fishing them correctly. Now that I'm a comfortable crankbait fisherman I love LC baits. To be honest I still like Norman lures the best but there are sure times when you can't beat a LC crank, especially in clear water.

I only own a handfull of LC baits, the advantages IMHO are, #1 they will come straight out of the box ready to fish, no need to change hooks, or any other components. #2 , there color selection for clear water is unmatched, and #3 they don't have many "duds", your $15 will be well spent. Compaired to say Strike King, where you have to change hooks on just about every bait,  the QC is not as high, some new baits need to be tuned, and the paint jobs are not as pretty.........then, some people, think the extra $$ for a LC is worth it. Truthfully I would buy more LC's if I culd afford it, but with as many hardbaits I lose to Pike, I would go nuts losing $15+ baits, often times I lose 2 or 3 baits a day 3 or 4 days in a row. I know some ( you know who you are LOL)will say if your around pike, your not around bass............yeah you won't be around dinks or 12" fish. Many of my big, if not biggest bass have come from areas where I have just caught  a decent pike, or been bite off by one.

I think the pointers are worth it. They just flat work better than any jerkbait I've tried. It's not like I lose them very often so I don't mind the extra cost. When you have tens of thousands of dollars worth of boats, electronics, rods, reels, equipment, etc...its not hard to justify spending an extra $9 if it puts more fish in the boat

I have not seen as much performance difference on the regular cranks, though. I don't seem to catch any more fish with the LC cranks than I do with the Strike King pro series baits...

It's really personal preference. If you can afford them , buy them , if not you'll still catch fish with the lower priced ones.

I once talked with a guy who was "in the know" and he was explaining to me about all of the research that went into the design of the LC's.  It was really fascinating and helped explain why they cost as much as they do - problem is, my bank account will only allow me to fish 'em if they are in the bargin bin - which they are occasionally.

It's all a preference thing.  I like some LC baits and don't care for others.  In don't like the action of a sammy, I'd rather throw a spook.  Pointers are ok but I have done better on other jerkbaits.  The CBs and RCs are very good baits, they are a little to expensive to fish the deep divers but the shallow runners will go through just about anything.  They have a really nice action, run true, deflect well, and get bit.

You are in need of a wire leader.

No..........if I targeted pike then maybe I would use one, but I don't, so I won't. I would rather lose baits then fish with a bite reducing wire leader. Even some of the serious pike/other toothy critter fisherman I know are shying away from them these days and using heavy fluorocarbon leaders............which also wouldn't work for me. I have to live with the bite offs, that why I throw Bandits, SK's, and Rapala's insted of Lucky Craft's and Megabass.

The RC 1.5 is the best shallow crankbait made IMO. Some of the deep divers work but I catch just as many if not more fish on lower priced baits. I have 3 lure retrievers so I have only lost one LC crank ever.

Have to add that since Rick Clinn is no longer with BPS they will probabley but the baits with his picture on the package on sale. They sell these every year for like $10 at the spring event so stock up then. If I could own only one LC crank it would be a RC 1.5 in Copper Perch.

RC 1.5 is an awesome top water bait. I have to agree with most of the above the LC's seem to have better quality control. I haven't yet had to worry about a lure not running true or a hook being dull or the paint absolutely just falling off on day one. That being said I have many other brand cranks and cant say the LC's out perform the others on any given day. They all will catch there share of fish some may last longer than others.

I own a few LC's and I like them and have caught alot of fish on them.  However, my number one crank for my home water is a Bandit 200.  The LC GDS SSR kills on my buddies stock tanks though.

I had some wind up selling them on Ebay not worth the extra money when I catch/caught more on Rapala Shad Raps and the original minnow.

There was a time when I refused to pay over ten bucks for a hard bait.  Could not justify it in my mind. I eventually picked up some Yo Zuri drums and swear by them.  I have since added LC Pointers and feel they are also one bait I would pay the price for.

i have some pointers and the only thing i will say is they cast better than my rogues.I get more bites on my rogues by far though.
