I'm looking at the Powell Diesel and the lower end Ducketts but I am open to all suggestions! The rod would be a multi-purpose rod use mainly for cranking and spinnerbaits. Any ideas?

What depth are you fishing the crankbaits? And how heavy of a spinnerbait? I have thrown square bills and spinnerbaits on a 7' mh/f rod. I throw a little deeper cranks on a 7' m/f. I just prefer the way it feels over a more moderate action. I have thrown DD22s on that same rod though not often.

I'm partial to the Fenwick Smallmouth series in that price range.  The selection isn't as great as in some rod lines, but if there is one with the power and action I want, then they are my first choice.

*** is a great rod, just beware the reel seat and handle aren't for everyone.

The Veritas is on sale untill 4-2-14 at Gander MTN. nice rod for $79.99. For what you want to use it for I would go M, ML action. these rods tips are a bit stiff but I like them alot!

You say multi purpose with spinnerbaits and crankbaits, so that is all you are going to throw or are you going to try Texas rigs or jigs too? I ask because you can get a decent rod for cranks and spinnerbaits but it won't be good for bottom contact baits at all, and if you are only using it for the spinnerbaits, what size spinnerbait and how deep for cranking? My suggestion is to get any brand you want at the price you want to pay but get it in a medium power with a fast action, it will have enough backbone for 3/8oz spinnerbaits and light texas rigs and jigs but it will still have enough flex to fish a DT 6 or square bill. The only thing with it is you can't go too big with your baits or get too much of a deep diving bait.

All great suggestions. So many. I would say Mojo would be a looker, as well as Carbonlites. A buddy of mine has the new white BPS Bionic Blade and he really likes it I think it is only 60 or 70 bucks. But really for 100 dollars any well known rod maker is going to get you a nice rod.
