Super User eyedabassman Posted March 24, 2014 Super User Posted March 24, 2014 I am down to these two reels. Of the two what one can I get more distance, and i know the rod has alot to do with it. So, say a rod MH or M action Veritas? I like the TP alot but the BB has caught my eye? Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 The rod has everything to do with it. If one reel model has your preferred braking system as a feature that may help you. Whatever reel you choose at some point flush the bearings and oil lightly (or have it done as part of a deep cleaning/service). With the exception of deep cranking and maybe spinner bait searching, casting distance is way over rated when it comes to putting fish in the boat. If you're shore bound of have some other situation that requires exceptionally long casts, nothing beats a spinning setup for raw casting distance. Quote
guisingerevan Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I have the BB1HZ on my 7'0" MH Veritas for spinnerbaits and it can throw one about 55+ yards so I'm very happy with the BB1. I don't own a tourney pro so I can't speak for that reel, but either one would be great. Hope this helps Quote
bootytrain Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 TT did a review on the BB1 and commented on its great distance capabilities. The stated the non anti reverse models gave about an extra 5 yards vs the anti reverse models. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 This why I take TT reviews with a grain of salt. Neither a mechanical AR or roller clutch is engaged or has any affect during casting. One may have performed better than the other but it wasn't due to the AR design. A slight difference in the amount of lube in the bearings could account for that small difference. 1 Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Both are capable of long casting. The two models you are looking at are built on different frame platforms and have a different cast control system. The BB1 has a larger spool with greater line capacity. If you plan to throw larger heavier baits, this would be a great choice. If you want a smaller spool that starts quicker and handles weights in the lower range and can use a dual cast control system, the T-Pro is the better choice. You might also look at the BB1 Pro and get the best of both worlds. The BB1 Pro is hands down my favorite LEWS. PM me if you have any Lews questions. 1 Quote

I am leaning towards the Pro or if someone can talk me into the BB1HZ? Quote
