Super User iabass8 Posted March 25, 2014 Super User Posted March 25, 2014 I like of better than the tatula because of how I palm a reel. It's smaller and the hood actually makes a great flipping switch. As for pitching and casting, it is awesome. The 3d braking system really helps. I just switched 3 of my jig and trig set ups to t3s from 50 size shimanos. The reel was built for my hands. I have the hands of man though so the tatula fits me Quote
daiwaguy Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 This year is a 7'4" Tatula Frog Rod/ T3 Ballistic Xs w/ 65lb Samurai/ PP reg./Smackdown. Still experimenting till frog season starts, Back up: 7'4" Light and Tough Frog Rod/Viento 65lb PP reg. Love the walk the twitch switch gives a frog. Quote

The brake jutting out was annoying Oh i do too and i can totally understand how the tall frame can be off putting. My hand is just big enough where that dial hits. Id take a t3 over a tatula though Quote
Blues19 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 7' MH Veritas, 7:1 Curado, 50 lb Power Pro. Have yet to use it, but Just bought it recently. I normally throw Spro Bronze Eye Frogs, but bought a bunch of Booyahs to add to my arsenal. Quote
Arv Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 I rarely throw frogs, but it's on a Dobyns champion 735c with a lews tournament pro spooled with 50# braid. I have a couple booyah pad crashers Quote
big poppa Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Currently using a All Star Rods WR1 and a Pfluger President. Its actually a worm rod but its got a fast tip and gets the job done. Quote
masterbass Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Frogging will be new for me this year: 1. megabass perfect pitch w/ lews tournament, 50lb power pro, booyah pad crashers, strike king sexy frog, snag proof. 2. falcon bucoo 7' h/mf, lews speed spool. Quote
OntarioFishingGuy Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 7`4`` H St Croix Legend Tournament Slop N Frog with a Tatula 7.3:1 left handed (I hate switching hands) with 55lb braid. Use for all types of frogs, flipping/pitching/punching and small to mid-sized swimbaits. Easily one of my favorite setups. Quote
BradGuenette Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Dobyns 735C/ Chronarch Ci4/#65 Power Pro Quote
fish365 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I have 3, 7'6", 7', and a 6'6" all MH. Don't have grass in the lakes here, but the lakes fluctuate around 30' from winter to summer pool and when they fill, the pockets of pollen and trash are where i go. Like to keep the 6'6" to help get way back under tree branches. Use 7.1:1 reel and 65lb spiderwire with a Spro Bronzeye frog. Use natural colors once sun gets up but love the "Killer" early and late in the day. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I used to use the G Loomis TWFR935 with a Shimano Chronarch D7. In the offseason, I acquired the G Loomis NRX 916 UBR, which I am going to pair with the Shimano Core 100 MgFV, and I plan on using this as my new frog set-up. Quote
War Eagle 44 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Powell Max 735 with a "tuned" Citica 201E spooled with 65# P-Line Spectrex braid. As far as lures go I have quite a variety but I'm only really using two brands, Spro and River2Sea. I fish Bronzeye & Bronzeye Jr frogs along with the new Bronzeye Shad from Spro and it's either a Bully Wa or Spittin Wa 70 from River2Sea. I fish frog baits much more than I do toad baits but I do fish toads when the conditions call for them. I've got these narrowed down to basically two brands as well, Strike King and Gambler. The Rage Toad is hard to beat when the fish are really aggressive but the Gambler Cane Toad is my number one toad bait. I fish all these baits, in every situation and water condition, on the above setup. 1 Quote
RippinLips4 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I'm thinking about getting a champion 735 to use for jigs, flipping and frogging. Quote

curtis9 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Dobyns 735C/ Chronarch Ci4/#65 Power Pro This I'd my setup, but I use 50 lb suffix 832 instead of power pro. Quote
EdsBar Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 There's some new frog that came out in the Bass Pro catalogue. It is shaped a little different and the hooks are angled so there is less missed hits. I would like to invest in one. They are about 14 bucks each I believe. 1 Quote

It has a catamaran mouth. The mouth bites into the water, as it does this the rear lift a little so it can hit against the surface. Looks cool! Might give it a try. Brian Quote
