midnighthrasher Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I just got off the phone with Tackle Warehouse and they told me that they were discontinuing Tru Tungsten because the company was going bankrupt. That's really too bad because I really liked their lineup of products. What are you using for Tungsten? Quote
MMan16 Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I also use Tru Tungstens (tungsten weights) so if that is true i'll have to start giving others a try. Bass pro tungsten from what I've heard is inconsistent. I have people saying they've never had a problem with it and others saying it's frayed there line. Quote
lavbasser Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I've had Tru Tungsten weights back-ordered at TW since their Black Friday sale. They probably won't come in. I need to re-stock. Does anyone like any of their (tungsten weight) competitors? Quote
aceman387 Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I hope to see more responses on this topic because i have been thinking of upgrading to tungsten from lead.I was at bps yesterday and saw they have their house brand on sale at 25% off but wasn't sure about them because of the silicone inserts.I have read about inserts may steal some sensitivity so i passed on them. Super User eyedabassman Posted February 12, 2011 Super User Posted February 12, 2011 So we should be able to get what the stores have left real cheap now that they ore going out? Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 12, 2011 Super User Posted February 12, 2011 That sucks.........I liked there sinkers, and there little "smart pegs". I didn't use any thing else. I don't like weights with inserts. I guess I'll have to guard my stash of tru-tungsten stuff like it's gold. I know other brands have insert free sinkers, but TT's were nice ,I never had any line frey issues with them, and the finish was very durable. Quote
Incheon Basser Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I'm sure some other company will buy them out. uncle josh tried but the deal fell through. Quote
Loomis24 Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I agree it is to bad they are going under. I loved my Tungsten weights that i have. Strike King has their version of Tungsten weights but i am not sure how good they are i have not fished with any. Quote
cBooms@SML Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 what about bass team tackle weights? the price seems really nice too! Quote
B A S S E R Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 picked up a 3 pack of red tru tungsten bullets for $4 last night. and a mad maxx frog for $4 Quote

Beware of xps from bps. the inserts are so small on the 1/4 oz.bullet weight that 50# braid ain't goin thru it. : Quote
Red Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I like Tru Tungston as well. I tried some others once but couldn't get my braid through the insert. I just ordered some TT weights from BTD yesterday. Probably should have ordered more. Quote
