Does anyone have any personal experience with the St. Croix Casting Triumph rods? They seem to have solid reviews online, but I wanted an opinion from someone on here.

They were the rods I first started out Bass fishing with. Liked them a lot for their price point, and never had an issue with them.

I have a few triumphs both casting and spinning, they are great rods for the 70-80 dollar range. if i am looking for a sub 100 dollar rod they are one of the three i look at, the other 2 are the abu veritas/vendetta, and the shimano clarus... great rods though from a great company...

I wouldn't call them overly light, sensitive, or anything like that. However, for the money, they're solid fish catching machines. I have a couple that I use when I am catfishing, or wading rivers; that way I don't mess up my good stuff. I really like them a lot. I've caught numerous 20lb+ catfish on a 7' medium rod and never had a single issue with it. I'd highly recommend them. Look for sales too, I bought a couple from Dicks for less than $50.

I have a 6' MF paired with a 2500 symetre and I'd say it's a good $70 rod. I use it to skip soft plastics under docks. It's sensitive and fairly light weight. If I'm picking up a rod for under $80, this would be my choice.

They aren't the lightest or most sensitive rod out there but they're a good rod for the price you're paying.

I had a 6'6" M/F casting rod. It is nice. I directly fished and compared the Triumph along side of the older, full cork handle Shimano Compre rods (a slight upgrade over the Triumph, the Shimano Clarus would have been a more lateral comparison but the Compre is what I have) and found it comparable in most instances. The Shimano did feel notably more refined in terms of weight and balance for the same ratings of the rod. I like the cork of the St. Croix rods better, seems smoother and softer. The sensitivity was nearly identical to me, using the same type of lines. The overall stiffness of the two rods, the St. Croix was stouter. This could go either way for a person depending on what they want, either light and crisp or having a heavy duty backbone in the blank.

I eventually gave the Triumph away since I preferred my Compres, but if I needed a good rod and this was available, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again.

I have two, a 6'6 an 7' mf spinning with pfluger supreme mg's they were my first real bass setups. For $70 I think there a Great rod. I did snapped the top 6" of the 6'6 on cast, sent it back to St Croix an they replaced it for free. I think they fish a little heavier than there rating, as I've pulled many 4-5's out of grass with no issues...

I have a 7'0 MH and i love it. If I am remembering right there are the same blank as the mojo. When i bought mine I held it side by side with a mojo, and the full handle won. The split handle on the mojo made it too "tip heavy" for me. I use mine for plastics and jigs. This will be it's third season. I will end up with another one for sure!

I have a 6.6 spinning rod, love the action and feel of this rod, but it has broken twice now while setting the hook or fighting the fish. BPS actually let me return within the warranty period both times but I opted for a skeet reese the second return. Maybe I just had bad luck twice, otherwise really liked the rod

I have one and it's a good rod for the money. Feels like it will last me a long time, it's not the most sensitive or lightest rod I have but I would buy another one for $80.

Not trying to highjack the thread but I am curious how much of an upgrade would the Triumph be over say a Lightning Shock or Sellus?

For bottom contact, quite a bit. for moving baits, not too much...

for the money I would spend another 20 bucks and go with the Premier. Better rods and worth the difference.
