coots Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Thought I would drop in and give everyone a little update. On the "Goal for 2014" post I said that my goal is to do better in tournaments than we did last year. Well, we entered our first "real" tournament today. That may sound contradictory, but all the tournaments we've fished before are our local club tournaments and local "away" tournaments. This was a local tournament to raise some money for the Junior College close to us, which brought some really good fisherman out. I have done so much reading, so much thinking, asked so many question on this forum, watched so many bassresource videos about technique. Anyway, it has started to pay off. We finished 7th place today weighing in almost 18 pounds. Dad locked onto this 8lb 4oz beauty! I owe A LOT of thanks to the people on this forum with helping answering my questions. Really teaching someone like me the real "secrets" of fishing. I think one of the biggest secrets some have shared is, really no secreat at all. If you start studying fish, start implementing what you learn ON THE WATER... things will eventually pay off. I have had a lot of first since I've joined this forum. I've broadened my arsenal tremendously. Going from a Texas Rigged worm only guy, to throwing the a-rig, jerkbaits, drop-shot, shakey heading, lipless cranks, crankbaits.. you name it. I've started doing it and effectively. Anyway, here is dad with a few of the fish from today. By the way, those are the "Team Coots' jerseys he's got on SEE Y'ALL ON THE ROAD TRIP! Quote
