Avalonjohn44 Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Went valentines day shopping for the wife and had to visit the fishing section... Found a mess of spinnerbaits and jigs for a buck each. SCORE! (Paid regular price for the KVD Square Bill...) I removed the pic because it was too big. Here is a link to it: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RGva-m4ZPqs/TVRmjI85qnI/AAAAAAAAAOM/HrHcDmvJwec/s1600/P1140310.JPG Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 Dunno how good those bass magic swimbaits are, but they were marked down from 6, to $4, then to a dollar. Couldn't pass it up. If it turns out they suck then I'll just give it to my kids to play with. Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted February 10, 2011 Super User Posted February 10, 2011 So did you remember to pick up something for the wife, or are you going back tomorrow? ;D Quote

Pa Angler Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Great job of beating the monkey. Tight Lines Pa Angler Quote
MNGeorge Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 If your relationship with the bait monkey is anything like mine, you never really beat the bait monkey. Every once in a while though, he'll give you back a little of what he's taken. ;D Quote
airborne_angler Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Think the Biat monkey got the best of me today. I was at a Thrift Shop on the local military installation where there were 4 separate Ziploc bags full of assorted Japanese made baits. Mustve been a service member just returning from overseas, thinning out their baits. Most of the stuff is brand new and for what It cost me,I "think" I did ok. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 I went back and got some more. Quote
Stasher1 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 If you boil those Bass Magic swimbaits for 30 seconds or so, they'll soften up a bit and have a little more action in the water. It'll also help to get rid of some the nasty chemical odor they have. Quote

Super User CWB Posted February 11, 2011 Super User Posted February 11, 2011 Where did you find this bargain. Forget about the wife. Bass Magic swimbaits are identical to Strike King Shadalicious, except not the same colors. I love them both. My favorite pre-spawn bait for prowling spawning grounds and deeper water surrounding them. 4.5" has been magic for me. I boil them for 10 seconds. Tends to straighten them out, soften them up a little, and remove most of the plastic smell. Don't forget to dip the tails in JJ's Magic. Quote

Super User Alpster Posted February 11, 2011 Super User Posted February 11, 2011 You did GOOD! I have about a 100 of those Strike King jigs. When I find em on sale like you did, I will grab 20 or so. There are jigs I like better, but I will throw those SKs in the worst of thick cover and I don't care if I lose them. Caught a lot of fish on them. Ronnie Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 I will be boiling the bass magic shads tonight! Thanks for the tip! Quote
