Super User S Hovanec Posted March 21, 2014 Super User Posted March 21, 2014 7 or 8 for me, the wife and dogs. If I go alone or with someone else in my boat, I take 4 or 5. If I'm on someone elses boat, I'll take 2 or 3. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted March 21, 2014 Super User Posted March 21, 2014 And I am buying another rod/reel !! A lew's TP with my 7'6" Mh Veritas. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 21, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 21, 2014 Just putsin around I bring 2.. On a boat in a tourn or not 6 b/c and 1 spinning Mike Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted March 21, 2014 Super User Posted March 21, 2014 Not that lucky, she's got the better gear! Hey, that puts a whole new hot spin on the term "Trophy Wife" though! For me it's 2. One spin and one baitcast. I know... That shame! Quote
The Rooster Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I started down that road to having a bunch of different rods, and turned back. This year I'll be using 4 rods for about everything, and trying to make that become just 3 again, like in the old days. Right now, I still own about 10 rods after having sold some recently. I'm just tired of having such a large collection of stuff to maintain, feel like I have to use it because I own it, and having it sitting around at home reminding me of all the money I've wasted. You guys up in the teens and 20's for number of rods, there's no way I could stand that. Quote
NathanW Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 usually like 3 or 4 spinning and 8-10 casting. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 21, 2014 Super User Posted March 21, 2014 For me it's 2. One spin and one baitcast. I know... That shame! Look at it this way. You have one less forum to read since Tackletour wouldn't let you join with only that amount of tackle. Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted March 21, 2014 Super User Posted March 21, 2014 Look at it this way. You have one less forum to read since Tackletour wouldn't let you join with only that amount of tackle. It's true... However, you should see my ski gear room- I could have a brand new boat fully stocked with NRXs and Stellas! I am big into handmade skis and climbing mountains to ski them and that requires a ton of gear. The past few years I've been getting really into fishing and have been building an arsenal... But it's slow going when you have limited funds and like nice things! Maybe the gear fairy will hook it up one of these days or somebody here will want to trade me sick gear for some custom welding or metal fab work, who knows haha Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 21, 2014 Super User Posted March 21, 2014 It's the same, tournament or not if I'm in my boat. A couple dozen or more. If I'm a guest, four to eight. Shore fishing, one or two. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted March 21, 2014 Super User Posted March 21, 2014 i can take up to 7 rods in the kayak. 5 usually get the job done for me. if i'm hitting the river it's only 2, maybe a 3rd if there's a chance of catching some trout Quote
Iluvsmallies Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I will be bank fishing and kayak fishing and I will have three at all times..two baitcasters and one spin Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted March 21, 2014 Super User Posted March 21, 2014 I am pretty simple. 6 b/c's on the boat, and 1 b/c on the bank. Quote
SudburyBasser Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 From the bank at most two. Fun fishing from the boat, probably two to three. Co-angler in tournaments, six max. Quote
Got1Fishing Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I don't own a boat... yet! I have a 5 year plan for that after college... Co-Angler: 7 rods Bank: 1 rod P.S. those of who who carry more than 1-2 rods for bank fishing... who do you do it? I find it way too uncomfortable walking around with multiple rods + your tackle. Quote
FlipnLimits Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 My rig has 12 rod tubes so I bring 12 in the boat. I have spare rods, without reels, around the house and garage. Some I buy to fill a gap and if I don't like it, it sits there, like a recent Crucial, and others are spares of what I do use and a few that aren't made anymore. FL Quote
fadetoblack21 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 I bring between 4 and 5, 2-3 baitcasters and 1-2 spinning. Never understood why someone who is not tournament fishing would need more than a hand full of rods, but I guess I'm not too impatient to retie if I need another lure to throw. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 22, 2014 Global Moderator Posted March 22, 2014 Usually from 8-12, more on certain trips, down to 1 if time is limited and I'm only wanting to fish 1 kind of bait (usually a big swimbait). Quote

Back pack and 2 rods in each hand, if going in boonies.. 2 rods though. When on boat 15 1 Quote
AQUA VELVA Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Five BC and three SP in the boat all the time.I once had a guy on shore watching me take all my rods out of the rod locker and he said,'' Wow, how many rods do you need?'' I replied,'' As many as it takes''. Quote
