Sunday, April 6th was my first day out on the water. Ice prevented me from going earlier. I caught my first bass of season on a chrome/blue/orange belly 4.5" Xcalibur XS4 jerkbait in about 7-10' of water. I was using my 6.3:1 Quantum Energy PT casting reel spooled with 12lb Seaguar Invizx and my 6'6" M/F Quantum Tour Edition Gerald Swindle Signature edition casting rod. The bass weighed 4.10lbs

Still to be determined. Caught a bunch of trout on the White River in February, but have yet to go bass fishing.

This winter has been so long and cold. I'm so happy to finally be able to answer this question. My first bass of 2014 was caught on my newest setup. A 6'10 M/MF Shimano Xpride paired with a Chronarch 50E. I was using a Pointer 100. Only about 2-2.5 but d**n it felt good.

Still waiting for bass season to start (another 2 months roughly), but I will give you my prediction that I will catch it on my Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth (Spinning 6'9" M/XF) using a Pearl White Super Fluke.Ā  Guaranteed.Ā

First bass of the season was caugh on a RodTech 7'3" MH/F custom rod, Daiwa Aggrest 7.3:1 with 15# Cabelas X50 Flouro. The fish hit a Rock Hard Tackle jig with a Lockett Lures Outlet trailer in about 7-8ft of water. The fish weighed 2lbs and was 15.75" in length which was 1/4" short for the 16" tournament limit.

How do you like the Cashion rods? I was thinking about getting one to try because I would much rather buy nice rods that are built in the U.S. than China (or even Japan)

Ā It's lightweight and balances out well. The sensitivity was there as well. It's rated a bit generous for lure specs but it's action and power are accurate. I like the look of the carbon fiber and it's not uncomfortable to fish with at all. I spoke with the owner of the company a few times before ordering. He was nice to talk to and didn't try to sell me on anything. Just answered my questions and gave me some info along the way.

1/2 oz war eagle spinnerbaits.

Loving my new lews and the war eagle spinnerbait. Forget what its called, has the size of a 1/4 spinnerbait but weighs 1/2 oz. Thing casts like a bullet, slow roll it, burn it. I love spinnerbaits and im glad I finally picked up a few of these.

Ice fishing.....................24" UL Abu Garcia Veritas Ice combo, 3lb Power Pro braid, 2lb Seaguar Abrasx-ice fluoro. #14 Northland Gill-Getter (grasshopper) tipped with a wacky rigged 1" NorthlandĀ  mini round worm in glo-watermelon. I probably caught 25-30 LMB this winter ice fishing the farm pond with this set up, most were dinks, but a few small keepers, and a couple over 2lbs, and one 3 lber.

Ā

Open water.....................have not been out yet, ice just left, but winter is back for a few days, maybe by the end of the week.

First fish, well caught it on a BPS IM6 Graphite 7'6" H Musky rod with a Lexa 300, 65lb braid with a 25lb FC leader and an 8" ROF 5 Huddleston in Rainbow Trout. Ā Fish weighed in right at 6lbs. Ā Good way to start the new year.
