Super User jbsoonerfan Posted March 20, 2014 Super User Posted March 20, 2014 I won't recommend a brand as it tends to be a personal preference. However, if I had to choose one all around rod, it would be a 7' MH fast rod. 4 Quote

Seems like you either love or hate these rods. They work for me and I couldn't be happier so far. Let us know what you settle on! Quote

There are tons of "$100-$150 rod" threads. A search should turn up all the recommendations you can handle. Quote

Man for those activities I wouldn't pay much attention to what it is called (Medium Heavy or Heavy) but I would want a lure rating up to 1 oz versus being rated at 3/4 oz max. And any length 6'-6" through 7'-3" that you feel comfortable handling. Quote
